Shipping Stories/Nightmares?

Pretty much what the title says:
Anyone have a story to share about their shipping process for their Evo?

I just bought an '03 TB Evo VIII [off the evoM marketplace ] and I'm anxious to get this sucker already. I had to have it shipped, so I am quite nervous about what's going to happen. It's 2 days overdue so far and they're giving me the run around. i'm sure i'm overreacting but it's pissing me off that no one will give me a straight or round-about answer, or get back in touch with me. It's on the truck right now, headed for delivery but who knows when it will come.

I've read a few stories on here about people who have heard that the drivers will pull over and take joyrides in the cars. Some have even been stolen in the process. I was just wondering about the other fellow Evo owners (and other car owners) who have had their cars shipped from one place to another, and what type of experience it was.

Thanks :]

I shipped my own car from Chicago to NC- it's those horror stories that stopped me from having it shipped. I flew to Chicago, signed for the car and quicky got on the road at high noon. I drove the 13 hours straight to get it home and it was so much fun I would do it again. The car got a little dirty, I went through 4 tanks of gas, but good CDs and twisty roads through the Appalachian mountains were my reward

Like DonHugo said, if you can avoid the shipping company and can swing a long drive, that's your best option. If you do have to ship, be certain you have the mileage on your vehicle clearly marked somewhere on the paperwork. Also, have a full inspection done of the car and have a representative of the shipping company sign off on it. And, take pics too (if you can).

My shipping horror story was when my company moved me several years ago from LA to NYC. They had my RSX-Type S shipped by some company. They paid for it so I thought "what the heck." Well, when my car arrived it had 17 extra miles on it then when it was taken away. The shipping company gave me the run around and made up BS stories that the mileage must have been recorded incorrectly at the drop off. BS!!! I wrote the mileage on the shipping invoice. Anyway, I sold the car shortly after that. Lord only knows what those ******** did to my baby during those 17 miles.

I had my car shipped from Virginia to Hawaii (military) and the shippers put a small rip in my driver seat, scratched my rear bumper and dented my muffler... over $5800 worth of damage ($5863.69 to be exact).

Still don't have my money...

Kinda... no explanation for the dent or scratch, but the rip is apparently a factory defect and should be covered by my warranty... LOL. I told Mitsu that and they laughed uncontrollably.

I'm going through my legal channels to get my loot.

No horror story here. Had my SE shipped from CA to KY back in May. It arrived as scheduled and mostly unmolested (few small scratches on lower rear bumper, buffed out easily though). Biggest complaint was that it arrived the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend and they wouldn't let me pick it up on Saturday for some reason, even though the tow yard was open. I had to wait til Tuesday.

Waiting 2 weeks after the car arrived for the dealer to finally send me the certificate of origin and bill of sale was a much bigger headache than shipping. I made my first payment before I could even register the car.

well that's one good story lol i guess some scratches are inevitable though. yeah, the title & paperwork is the biggest pain of them all. I'm probably going to make some payments before i can register the car as well. having it sit in your driveway, waiting for you to just driveeee has got to be torture lol

I could've had the paperwork immediately after the car arrived, but there was some miscommunication between the dealer's DMV lady and the salesman I was dealing w/ about the papers being ready. Plus, she only works there 2 days a week. Basically, they didn't wanna send the MSO/cert. of origin directly to me since I have a lien on the car. I would've gladly given them the BMV or bank's address, but no one bothered to tell me that was the issue until I'd had the car nearly 3 weeks.

And I drove the car every weekend w/o plates anyway. The dealership screwed up and sent me the CA "temp tag" (lil' slip of paper in the front windshield), so technically I was legal in CA. I just rolled w/ that and my Anaheim Mitsubishi tag in back and cops never even looked at me.
