Reflash vs mail in tunes
Luckily this was in the newbie section. But the correct title should be "Are mail in tunes are good as they say?" A reflash is the same thing as a mail in tune. All the tuner does is reflash your ecu for your setup. Yes, the mail in tunes are decent and a good start.
A Dyno tune is always better becuase the conditions of the car are taken into account to achieve maximum horsepower.
dont waste your time with an email flash. Go to a local tuner that knows what there doing and have them do it. Heres what happend to me, I got a flash from al and he ended up flashing a evo 8 program onto my evo 9. Then when i wanted to get reflashed he modified the program so only he could flash it again, or what i did was find a program online that gave me access to als flash. Then i had to flash a stock 9 map on my car to get the mivec back on the ecu. My car is now ready to be retuned today at beyond redline. All i got was an ok flash from al and then all it after that was give me headaches this whole weekend.

OP, you can't go wrong with mellontuning.
Just do a search for him or go to the service review section.
There is plenty of info on him there.
I would say that a custom tune, wether it is dyno or road tune is going to yield better performance than a mail-in tune.
If there is no dyno or good EVO tuner local to you, visit the ECUflash forum, gather all the tools needed to log the car and reflash your car, so that you can send the logs with the neccesary data and the ROM image to someone who can tune EVOs, or read through the forum, ask for advice and try to tune it yourself.

my e-mail flash tunes start with a base map that's made to work with the customers mods, from there we send the logs/rom updates back and forth until the tune is perfected. It's exactly like if I were sitting in the car doing a road tune...the very same process.
