Searching 4 Differences between VIII and IX
Here is a good list of most/all the differences. I owned both and love my IX.
IX has....
MIVEC
Better turbo
Better, more adaptive ECU
Bigger fuel pump then VIII
revised coolant passages in the head which allow more aggressive tuning
Metal DV (BOV) when the VIII has a plastic one
New front bumper w/o the "beck"
blackout headlights and tail lights
revised enkies on the RS & GSR - 5oz lighter then VIII enkies
Hollow carbon fiber wing (VIII is solid)
Seats are now suede and alactra (sp) - black & gray (VIIIs are black & blue)
carbon fiber look dash piece
Steering wheel painted black (VIII was silver)
A IX normal dynos 10-20 HP&TQ more then an VIII. The MIVEC and new turbo on the IX make daily driving better due to power being available at a lower RPM.
The main reason a IX is better then an VIII is its outstanding output after mods.
A IX with just a turbo back exhaust and a flash will produce power similar to a VIII with turboback exhaust, cams and flash (and the VIII usually needs a Fuel pump too).

Yea IX put down more power after mods then a VIII. Does the IX have better traction too.i think that the IX had some type of traction control that the VIII don't have but i could be wrong
Wow, my first post and a ton of responses. This forum kicks azz. I was afraid I would get flamed for such a simple post.
I am just trying to reassure myself that I did the right thing by buying a VIII yesterday, I could have bought a IX for the same $$$ (25.5K) but this guy has a 05 GG MR with 17K. He is the Original owner on carfax, and a clear bra and $10K in tasty mods.

If you add all that up it is $9600. Amazing how it all adds up. I love the fact that it was owned by a guy in his mid 30's and obviously loved it and took care of it. That is why I would never buy used from a dealer, you never know if the PO was getting the oil changed at WalMart, and if he was 20 years old and red lining it all the time. Since I am a Autox Time attackers the MR was a obvious choice. Can't wait to throw a GT35R Turbo on it and get a good tune!
