Seems to be lots of positive responses, and the former SRT owners are really making me think its time to let her go. Im really trying to save up a good amount of cash first though, I don't want to struggle to have to keep it. I think its definately attainable, as long as I keep my mind straight and save like a madman lol. Im really wanting one of these machines pretty bad, especially since I have driven one before, although not long, I think its gonna be a good switch. How about some more positive feedback on these awesome machines to solidify my decision? Keep the comments coming everyone, is the Evo>Srt?? Convince me more lol!

If you need people to convince you to get rid of your current car, then I think you're getting the Evo for the wrong reasons.

^^ Im not to sure what you mean by that. As far as if you mean I want the Evo for social status or whatever. I was directing that more towards former SRT owners to let me know what they thought about making the switch. I don't need "convincing", I want to hear peoples first hand experience on whether or not they regret the decision of switch from the SRT into the Evo. I have driven an Evo before and I loved it, but it was only for about 15-20 min, and you need more time with the car to get a true feel for it, thats why I want to hear from owners of these awesome machines to tell me what they think about my situation, more specifically from former SRT owners as they have been in my situation before. Thanks for the comments everyone.

It's your money do what you want to with it, he asked for intelligent responces not opinions. I know of several SRT owners and they are good cars for the money range, but are no match for an Evo which is totally in a different field. Comparing Front wheel drive to Al wheel drive is no comparison. What in effect you will be doing is changing car payments for an increase in that car payment. If you can afford it then go for it. I luv my 9 and from my experience the ones that have problems with their Evos do NOT maintain them and they drive the snot out of them at every turn of the key. I drive mine hard but I also maintain and do what I need to do to it and not let it lie around unmaintained. Change the fluids often with a turbo car. I would Never buy a used Evo unless I knew the previous owner and could trust them. I wouldnt buy my car used the way I drive it. If there is anyway you can swing a new one then the way to go IMHO..however if you can't go new then by all means look very carefully at the Evo before you buy it. Take the plugs out of each cylinder(and inspect them), and then do a leak down test on each cylinder to see if they are holding true across each one. Visually inspect the undercarriage to see if any fluids are leaking, IE; rear main seals, transfer case, Rear differential, look at the tires to see about the alignment, check everything you can think of, but the leak down test will prove the most valuable. Good Hunting for that Evo, you wont regret coming over to the Diamond Star side...May the Force be with you....

You're defiantly in the right forum, most people know their stuff and you'll get you're questions answered pretty quickly

Trust me I feel your pain with the 2GNT, I have one right now and hate it, it's lowered and has sports struts so it's fun in turns but will never feel as good as an Evo, you're defiantly making the right decision to go with the Evo over the SRT-4

Oh, well I just read what you wrote a few posts above mine when you said "convince me more lol"

I was just saying that if you need convincing, then you're probably pretty happy with your SRT

My boy has an SRT, and although it's not as fast as my Evo, it's still nice for how much he's put into it, and what he paid for it

Thanks for all the feedback. I feel for ya with the 2gnt, once I got rid of that and got my SRT, it was like night and day, the SRT compared to my 2g was just incredible. Also, buying new isn't really an option. Money is my biggest obstacle at the moment, which is why I am saving up now so I would be able to get an Evo and still be comfortable financially. Also around April-June I should be getting a new job that makes a bit more than what I make now, so I think its definately possible, just have to really keep a hold on my money and just save. Also, it would/will be nice getting behind the wheel of a Mitsubishi again! As slow as my Eclipse was, I do miss the bastard! More people feel free to comment.

^^ Yea, I understand now, just seemed like you thought I was wanting an Evo for something other than what it was made for, i.e. social status or whatever. I mean, I drive a turbo'd neon, im not too partial to what people think of my ride lol! You;re right though, I am happy with the SRT, but it's just not "me" I guess. Hard to explain really, and a week after I got mine, my best friend picked up one aswell, so if I ever want to get back in one I could drive his lol! I have 4 friends locally that have SRTs, so theres no shortage.

well I just got rid of my SRT last week for a 03 evo * with 30k miles on it, I am sure it wasnt abused at all. there wasnt one bolt marred from being turned under the hood and not one wear marking in the cabin.
I wanted a 9 but this car was cleaner with less miles than any 9 I looked at down here so I bought it.
The SRT was a great car for me. I installed all my mods and didnt half *** anything. I still broke axles, and a boost guage and the tranny started giving me problems, but I loved the car.
I wanted a EVO since I was 13 and I saved up a down payment and went hunting.
The car Feels 100X better on the street and its bigger cabin is more conformable for me. It drives better and worlds better in precision.
However there are little things that seem to come up; like the CC dial being a pain in the ***. and I have a chattering fan or ac clutch, along with a noisy TOB.
other than that I love the car and all my srt buddies here do to

^^ So all in all is the Evo just all around better than the SRT? Do you regret your decision at all?

I have owned both
i liked the top end of my srt4 quite a bit.
but the evo in turns and from a dig is in world

The evo is more apealing to me visually

I personally like both cars quite a bit, the evo has much better fit and finish, but the price tag also reflects this

Just my .02
