I've been having some trouble finding out the differences between the 2. I know they both have the ACD, the IX has Mivec, the VIII doesn't, different body styling, and I believe the IX has a lower curb weight. What I would like to know is the difference between the turbo's. From what I understand, both have the 10.5 hotside, and I know alot of earlier VIIIs can get a pretty good gain from the IX turbo, but is there an advantage for an 05 to get the 06 turbo? What exactly is the difference between the 2?
The search hasn't really netted a decent answer. Alot of the threads include "search" or "this has never been asked before "

Ah, I see, so there should be an advantage to upgrading to a 9 turbo

Meth kit is a better investment for the 05. 06 turbo is not worth the money. You can get the best snow performance meth kit for $320 plus shipping and you'll extract alot more hp then you would with that IX turbo. Unless you get both!

I dunno man, i bought my evo9 turbo before meth and it rocked with race gas.... big gain compared to my 8 spools faster as well

 

My 8 turbo rocks with race gas too. 400whp 425 wtq. How much more power did you have then that with race gas in a IX turbo? You cant get a IX turbo for $320 but you can get a METH kit for $320 and that will yield more power!

 

the difference is about 8mph with basic bolt ons lol
