The majority of highway races that I've seen high horsepower EVO's lose to Stang's or Supra's is because the EVO driver shifts like an old lady with arthritis.

If you look at the CFT video a few post back vs. other EVO's on You Tube or Streetfire, you'll see and hear the difference.

Those big turbo's don't like to wait for the next gear. Ball bearing or not, the quicker you are on the shift, the quicker you will be on boost.

i think al once said (while driving a 2jz ls400), that the fastest pump gas evo couldn't touch the ls400... that being said, gt42r race gas etc... and you'll still get destroyed by a fast supra. i love my evo, but if your racing a high horsepower supra's, you might as well get a viper or vette

That was Mike's first outing with a conservative tune with the a/f ratio at 10.5 to 1, zero aero work and close to stock ride height. On his 215.9 mph run he only blocked off the front side openings, tuned it for 11.5 to 1, and dropped the ride height by 1 inch. He was also still on the "baby" 70mm 42R. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TPVe9VZpFE

One thing mentioned a bit but needs to be consider more, is the Evo having better aerodynamics and this plays a role when hitting speeds of 100mph+. I'm not saying you have a huge advantage but it's still an advantage .

Step one Stroked out Motor BIG BOOST

Step Two Five Speed Tranny NEW GEARS Make 5th longer

Step Three about 6k on suspension + Tires

Step Four Ridiculously Light Rims

Step Five No Interior

Step Six Lots or Underbody aero no Rear wing (that good for 4 mph at the top end)

Step Seven get on a diet ur self

and the result should be around 190-200mph on the highway

I've got both (see sig). The supra plays seriously on a 325/50/15 DR mickey thompson. Traction at 40 plus is not an issue if the tires are even slightly warm.

Supra gearing for roll racing is also superior. I take my 4th gear to 145mph.

Don't get me wrong, I love my evo for DD use, spirited curvey cruises, and future HPDE events... but with that said, it can't hang when it comes to highway vs highway. The money it would take is just ridiculous.

Not to say it couldn't be done, but I think that it would take a lot to have an EVO take care of business in a race against this car. Besides, no one should be driving like this on public roads anyway.

So i think we have come to an agreement that supra is superior on highway. I also noticed someone posted about supra being able to handle to.

Say you built both a supra and Evo for handling, which one would perform better?
