What it takes to hang with a supra

Hey all, I know the evo wasn't built to be a highway monster due to AWD and the fact that it's a 4 cylinder. But if i were to want to build one to hang with some of the high end supra's on the highway, what would i need?

25k-35k depending on where you go and a diet of race gas will keep you in the mix with 800-1000whp supras. That's how I like to spend my money to keep up with the Jones's!!

Well..depends on how much power the Supra is making.

I dont think making an evo a "highway monster" is a problem...Build it with a big turbo and fill up with race gas or E85....and like anything else it costs money. The more you want the more you spend.

But see..I would much rather have an Auto tranny in a purely straight line car. It makes it easier, faster, and consistent.

Well, you can always get another Supra, or spend twice the amount of money and be right up there with him. Either way, you'll have a blast trying to catch up.

As stated, a BPU Supra can do 400+. There are quite a few (Atleast since I sold my supra) stock block BPU Mkiv's in the 10's. They can also handle in excess of 5-600 reliably on the stock bottom end. Some have even pushed the stock blocks to near 1000hp.

I have an evo IX MR lol.. but yeah. What kind of turbo would i have to run? If it's anything bigger than a 35r I'll probably just forget about even thinking about it. (too impractical) and if i could wth a 35r, what other mods would i need to go with it besides race gas, meth, etc.?

The amount of money it would take plus the price of an evo could probably buy you a BPU Supra. They will just simply have the upperhand on us for highway rolls: gearing, I6, POWER, etc. but we do have a lot more traction off the line IMO.

You may beat one in the quarter mile, but if the track continued they would catch up.

I'd say a build 2.0 GT42R with maybe a 4.11 final drive would do the trick.

is anyone forgetting supra traction issues, esp at such high power levels?
