Should a 03 evo be my FIRTS CAR
or if you want something AWD get a gsx or an impreza or something along those lines,
then use the money you save on insurance, etc, for modding.
Then when you gradually get use to the power
as you mod, and some seat time, go buy the evo....
I don't think anyone is trying to be mean or hurt your feelings..
just looking out for your best interest
nobody likes hearing about young kids getting hurt in fast cars,
or any cars for that matter, and it happens all the time...

Mostly its jealousy imo. Ya, it sucks when anyone gets hurt in a wreck, but do most people personally care? nope
I honestly think that it's a good idea to get a car that you won't kill yourself in. Having an Evo as your first car won't make you "respect" the car. If you have 1 or 2 slower cars first that you can learn in, an then buy an Evo, you'll have a much greater respect for the car. Evo's deserve alot of respect, because although magaznies say they're easy to drive, predictable, and can make anybody look like a pro driver, people still wreck them very often.
If you can afford the car, and appriciate the car for what it is, I'd say go for it. Just be smart.

I'm not trying to start an arguement or take sides, but when you were that age would you have said no?
your telling me 3 pages deep that everyone here simply cares about him hurting himself? or is everyone really that selfish and only cares about their car insurance premiums going up?
I agree with everyone on here I started with a 96 civic and modded that up little by little. Then I moved into the DSM world with a 90 TSI AWD, which gave me and understanding of AWD, Turbo blah blah blah, 4 years later im at the 05 MR. Just take it slow dont jump right into the evo cause you never know what could happen out there!
don't get the evo as a first car because it will ruin your perspective of every car after this one that you will ever drive. They will all seem slow, or tough to drive, or "it doesn't handle well at all" just because your used to driving something that is technologically way more advanced than anything you will ever drive.
If you must I agree with the AWD DSM or Civic idea. We joke on them in the forums but we all know that they can be just as good as our evos with the proper mods and driving techniques.

. Why would people who own the car already be jealous?
