I'm not bull****ting you about the RS thing. I seriously had the manager of the dealership tell me that the RS had a less powerful motor than the IX or MR. I told him that all three cars had the same motor and he gave me this look like I was some kind of idiot and told me I was wrong.

It's actually kind of fun to go to dealerships and get into technical discussions about their cars, then point out all the stuff they got wrong. You wouldn't believe some of the crap I've heard. You have to realize, people at car dealers aren't car guys, they're salesmen. Half of them couldn't give you a basic description of how an internal combustion engine works.

I got in to this at a VW dealer one time ... I ended up speaking with the sales manager. His reply was, "These guys don't have to know what is on a car or how it works. They just need to know how to sell them."

My reply was, "But your salesman doesn't even know that the car comes with the 'color concept' interior which is a big selling part of the model and he keeps telling me how much better the ESP traction control is in comparison to mine but can't tell me why."

He then asked me to point out which salesman it was ...

If dealerships hired "car guys" they might sell a few more cars ...

I'm very curious in finding concise information about the differences with the MR among its variants. I was told by the dealer in Japan that only 3000 units were ever made (1500 per yr.) as its a very limited editon which ran for 2006 and 2007 respectively.

I presently own a JDM 06 MR which has nominal differences when I compared it to my friend's JDM 05 GSR.
Actually I had the notion that only the JDM MR's came with the crappy Magnesium turbo which turned out to be false as my friend's 05 GSR turbo got broken. Upon removing, HOLA, it had the GOLD WHEELS which we had to replace.

The differences which I've seen is as follows:

Seats: MR comes with red stitching
Suspension: Looks like the same shocks but my MR has RED Eibach springs from factory, car is still high no hell, needs to be lowered
Front Lip has a total different design which everybody replaces here, even my friend replaced his the on GSR...

Thats the obvious differences, if you guys can shed some more light on this, it will be much appreciated, PEACE!!!

heres are a few picz of my 2006_JDM_MR...

If only that were true. I worked at a dealership once upon a time. The best salesmen usually didn't know anything about the car, relatively speaking.

Yup. 99% of the people out there don't give a damn how their car works. They just want it to look nice, have a bunch of cupholders, and make their neighbors jealous. *cough*BMW*cough* Automobile sales is just the blind leading the blind.

I used to get the blank stare when I sold computers in college. I could actually decide which was a better computer based on what was inside it. If I tried to explain why one computer was better than the other I would usually get the deer in headlights look from my customer. This would invariably be followed by something like, "I heard Dell is a really good computer" as they point to the 256 MB RAM Celeron sitting on the shelf next to the 1 GB RAM Athlon 64 E-Machines I was trying to sell them. At that point I would either drop into kindergarden mode if they looked like they were going to spend a lot of money, or if they acted like cheapskates I would launch into a technical comparison of the two machines laced with liberal amount of condescending technical jargon like ALU, floating point, L2 cache, instruction stack, pipelining, etc. until they gave up and left.

My total sales figures sucked, but my margin numbers were astronomical.

I totally know what you mean. Most customers were blown away about how much I knew about the car and how hybrid systems work and all that. But I will say that as a car enthusiast, my issue when I first started was that I knew all about the higher end models, but most customers aren't enthusiasts and just want the base model, typically something that I didn't have nearly as much information on off-hand.

But to reiterate what I said before, most salesmen are complete idiots. When I worked for Toyota, we had to go to a Tundra info session in the San Diego area before they were released, and they would ask questions about what they just talked about (stuff that's easy to remember if you like cars) and award you with "Pay Dirt" if you answered the question correctly. I pretty much answered almost every question and got most of the Pay Dirt, while everyone else in the room really thought I was a genius. But luckily since I had so much Pay Dirt (which you write your name on and put inside a basket for a raffle at the end of the day) that when they raffled the prize, I had a high probably of winning it due to having so much Pay Dirt, and I did (nothing fancy, just an XM radio car kit with three months free).
