Biggest limiter on any car is your right foot...But like everyone says if your worried about the INSANE power don't buy it. I mean 270 hp is not that much and 4.7 0-60 is not fast at all. But that's just my .02 good luck.

I think this is a great question. Your humility and maturity is impressive. Like others have said before, the evo is powerful, but not that powerful. The trouble comes in when you starting trying to push the limits, and you don't understand the limits of the car. Most common problems come into play with medium to high speed turns and braking. I also agree in saving the cash, buy a ralliart, and join NASA. Taking a car out on a track is super fun, and you will learn more than you will ever learn on the street. Another reason to buy the ralliart is that if you do track days you're going to need cash for entry fees, tires, helmet, brake pads, fluids, etc. All these things add up to serious cash, and are all well worth it.

I do admire you for asking this question. It shows a lot more maturity than the 17 year olds that want to know how to make 500hp on their new EVO.

I assume you will get a stick shift, correct? Who will be shifting? I presume you, right? So, just use 4,000rpm as your shift point until you are comfortable at that level. Then gradually raise your own self imposed shift point as your driving proficiency, confidence and maturity increases.

/rant on

I also presume you have not saved up enough to pay cash for this EVO? I happen to believe that a mature 17 year old would not take on the debt of a $36,000 car. Opting to actually own a less expensive car and work their way up to something nice as they can afford it, after college is paid for.

/end rant

That is correct i will not be paying for all of the 35,000 i will be paying all that i have saved up in my car acount 15,000. But my family understands that 15,000 will not buy me a car that i will be able to enjoy for many years to come. SO... I turned and began to look at Cars that will bring plenty of years of enjoyment...

I have another question.. I have heard from some people that the X always wants to go fast as if it pushin u to push the car? Is this true or is the X comfertable to drive at slow speed and not feel like it wants to be pushed all the time?

All EVOs want to be pushed. They are basically factory built race cars. You can drive them right off the dealer floor and right onto the track. If it was not a factory built race car, it would be called a Lancer or Civic and you would not be wanting one.

That's why we are telling you an EVO requires a higher level of maturity to keep yourself out of trouble than said Civic.

Not trying to be mean, but I don't think an Evo X is going to be quite for you. I can respect the fact that you're looking for ways to limit the car's capabilities so there's a smaller chance of you doing something dumb, but in that case, you might as well just get a different car.

While the Evo has a lot of performance features that end up giving people a greater margin of safety (AWD, LSDs, etc.), the bad thing about it is that since it's such an easy car to drive since its performance features do a lot of the work for you, you're not going to be as good of a driver as you could be since you're already in one of the easiest cars in the world to drive fast.

just get one and hop in and drive....

you seem to be very mature, the first day i got my evo "last year i was 21"....i hit the gas not realizing the power it had at that point was quite frightening the first time....after that you will get used to it and it will be a breeze.....after a few weeks the power feels so miniscul(spelling) that you will want more....i dont think you will have an issue controlling the car and having a need to lower the power.

if anything you will want more.

seeing as your dad has an sti, why not just go out with him in your new evo x the first few times around as you get used to its power band and handling.

if you are mature enough to ask on the forum for help, i'm sure you can also ask your dad to do you this favor and he would appreciate it.....hell, my dad kept begging me to drive in my car which drove me insane the first week...but your situation seems alot different .

good luck with your decision.

run wastegate pressure. 11 psi instead of 20. Should be down to around 150 whp.

why do you care if he is rich or not?.......are you a poor kid? who is stressed out with your evo payment. If he or his parents can afford a lamborgini for him and he understands how to drive it than let it be. Do you wanna be rich? I do...To the OP good luck with the car my friend and you dont need any wooded blocks or less boost if you are asking questions like this on a public forum...just go with your gut and have fun.
