EvoM Chime on IN! Help! EVO X GSR or EVO 9 SE

If theres a direct link to this similiar topic, please post.

Right now I am confused on what to get. It's between a 9 SE and a X GSR. I noticed that if I get a used 9, I only need to pay a little more for a brand new exo x. But I heard some stories that the X isnt as great as the hype. I'm using the car for DD and maybe autox if i am ever considering. I read some articles stating that the X does not have top end pull. I dont want to get something that i would regret. I would like to hear all of EvoM opinions. Thanks EvoM in advance.

IXs are raw beasts that feed off of mods. IMO, that's what I would get.

I've spent about $1000 on my IX, and my car will easily pull 320+ WHP tuned once I finish installing everything. I think that's pretty good for mod-ability. I DD my Evo btw. And have for 1.5 years, 28K miles.

in the 1-9 Forums you will hear "Get the IX!!"
go in the x forums and you'll hear "Get the X!!"

Go drive both yourself and you will know. Do you want raw or refined??? That should answer your question.

Its quite simple really.

The X could have amazing hidden potential once tuning software comes around for it. It has a nice head and once leaned out and with proper boost it seems to really come alive. Its downsides are that its still new and stuff is not developed for it. Also it is quite a bit heavier than a 9.

The 9 is a raw proven machine that takes very well to modification.

So you only question should be take the risk on the X or go with the proven parts.

I drove both the IX and X. I love the way the IX sits, it actually feels like a race car. The X sits like its a luxury car. The spool on the IX feels faster than the X. Comparing the IX and X on my experience, definitely the IX feel the G force pulling you back. When I redline the X....all i can say is that it was not at my expectation. It's going to be most likely DD use. Plus the X is more meaty than the 9. The X front grill looks like a copy of the Audi grill. The butt is so big, looks like a Is250+ and mazda thrown into one. The recaro design was not that gret either imo. If youre mid size and you sit in it, try not bumping the back of your head onto the plastice seat belt hole.

Don't take my word for it but I have noticed a few threads popping up here and there about people having unusual problems with some parts on the X's. The most recent one I noticed was about a broken throttle pedal or something.

The third gen evo is just plain sexy, I'd say get the IX.

wtf?

The difference between a used IX and new X is like $10,000 where I live. Not exactly "a little more."

Get the IX.

I would definetely go with the IX, we all know how proven the 4G63 is. Its funny that every time I go to my dealer they ask me if I want to trade my IX for a X, I think they're having trouble selling them. Come to think of it the only X I've seen on the road is Vishnu's and its always parked at his house. Oh well I may look at a X later to park next to my IX but I'm not gonna trade mine to get a one.

I know these people probably all own IX's, I drove the X's at the dealership and there is no comparison. The X is a MUCH better daily driver, I would only get the IX if your only going to drive it on the weekends. Drive both BEFORE you make a decision!!!

So, the IX is not a good DD compared to the X? I am going to use the car for DD.

The X looks good and all but I cant stand the back of it. It just looks so FAT, imo.

I'll see if my feeling will change after I arrive at the dealership this weekend.
