hi guys i just got a lancer evolution 8 for my graduation present. i'm loving it so far and have many plans for it...(if college funds allow it :O ). the car is a 2004 tarmac black gsr. it's completely stock.
ps is it ok to put on a turbosmart bov half vented and half recurculated? the girlfriend bought it for me as a "new car"gift. and i dont want to make her feel bad if i dont use it. but if it's ok to use then i will thanks guys

Congrats on the Evo, and welcome to the community!
Running a VTA BOV isn't the worst thing in the world, but I still wouldn't recommend it. She had the right idea though, the stock VIII plastic BOV is weak and should be replaced with something such as the IX Metal BOV.
Perhaps find out if she can return it, exchange it, or just sell it and explain you need a specific model for your car.
The mod bug will bite soon

After all the horror stories I hear about running a VTA blow off valve with the ultra sensitive MAF our cars have I wouldn't do it. As mentioned above you would be much better off getting a IX metal DV. If you put a cone filter on in place of the stock air box you can hear them blow off just fine.
