newb 20g question
newb 20g question
im thinking about buying a 20g turbo off a friend of mine and i was wondering if i would have to change anything to botl it up or would it just bolt right up? also i was wondering how many pounds of boost would you run with it? thanx in advance for your help!
I would run 20-23 PSI with the right tune. Do yourself a favor and search, look up the 20g turbo on parts store website I.e. Buschur, vivid racing, and see what they are running with it. Then find out if your car has it.
What are you mods now?

i actually just got the car monday and it had some things done to it when i got it including : Power Enterprises Intake, Hallman Evo MBC, BR 3" "Bullet" TBE, E-bay O2 housing, Forge CBV, Walbro 255, Dynoflash mail in
Do yourself another favor, find a good tuner, or even mail it in, but check out you rom/tune thats on there. Just to make sure everything is where it should be...... I also would change out the manifold, hotside, and then the 20g, then of course a retune to dial it in....
yea i was told by a friend of mine to get tunned at ivey in jersey but im just trying to figure out if its worth it to trade my stock turbo with a friend of mine for the 20g. oo yea also i was going to do cams as well i think im going with 272s

well I would raise an Eyebrow.... Why does he want to rid of it? Stock for 20g? hmmmm
Do some preliminary research(search button) to verify, but, if I am not mistaken, the Eclipse turbos are not a direct bolton to the Evo exhaust manifold, or the Evo O2 housing either. Additionally, the oil/coolant lines may not interface either.
I've never inspected an Eclipse turbo myself, but, from what I understand, the turbine housing is not a twinscroll design. Although, it would not be a direct bolton swap, there is a kit available from Buschur which would allow you to use this turbo on an Evo. Just be aware that you are in for additional expense and hassle.
Ultimately, you are probably better off just buying the proven FP EvoGreen. This is the most widely accepted "20G" turbo upgrade for the Evo. Or, talk to Buschur, as they have a wealth of knowledge concerning the earlier 20G's, and they also sell the 20G-LT(EvoGreen).
