Has my ECU been reflashed

I bought my car used from a dealer in NJ in October 2007. It had 4000 miles and looked completely stock. I was reading a thread about the works p2 flash, and it said it raised the rev limiter from the stock level of 7100 RPM. I was pretty sure that I had reved past that before, so this morning I set out to hit the limiter. When I hit the Tach needle was just north of 7500 RPMs. Is this normal for stock, or has my ECU been flashed?

Its proably been flashed. I bought my 06 ix evo used at 3200 miles.

My rev limiter is about 8000rpm.. Does your evo have aftermarket exhaust or fuel pump. Aftermarket fuel pump is a godd way to determine that there is something else going on...

The stock rev limit is 7606. Try the 2-step. If it's set to above 5K, the car was flashed.

Thanks. I think it is all stock. I will try the 2 step next time I'm out to be sure. I thought my tach was at 7600, so this is consistent with the stock setting.
I am installing exhaust this week, and then I want a tune. Can you raise boost at all with the ECU without altering the car in any other way? I have searched this forum, and have not found much info. What type of power gain can I get with 3" TBE high flow cat and an Iveytune?

I would not suggest raising boost before you get tuned. Generally, a IX with an exhaust, MBS and tune will see ~70whp gain, but there are too many variable to take that figure at its face value.

What about without any boost control just ECU and Exhaust? There is plenty of info here about boost control tuna and exhaust, and altering the turbo lines in combination with ecu, BUT CAN YOU GET ANYMORE BOOST THEN STOCK WITH JUST AN ecu FLASH? sorry cap lock.
My two step is set at 4500 RPM, so I assume I have factory settings in the ECU now.

You mean just a flash with zero hardware changes? I don't think so. IIRC, you'd need a different boost pill at the very least. You may be best off searching the tuning forums for a better answer.

The factory setting is 5K.

You can a little more boost but only just barely.. Stock boost tapers by ECU down to around 16psi after 5500rpm or so too flashing the computer removes that.

If you max out the solenoid then you should get around 21psi of boost tapering down to 19-18psi from start to redline. Without a boost pill or a MBC its not going to go any higher.

There are things you should do before turning up the boost anyways. One super easy thing is just replace your exhaust with a free flowing unit.

21 tapering to 18-19 would be a good increase, since I think it spikes at about 20 now and tapers to 14-15. Thanks for the info. I already ordered the TBE, and expect to install it any day now. With A tune I should be happy for a little while.

With the factory 5k setting does it bounce from 4500 - 5000. I'll have to try again next time I'm out.

Thanks for the good info.

Hey,i was thinking about trying the same thing.I know there was an earlier version of the ix's rom (88590013)that boosted 21 psi from the factory.Maybe just flashing that rom would give the results were looking for.If anybody has a stock 88590013 rom i would love to take a look at whats different.Nice to see another Philly guy on here btw.

I installed the TBE today. RRE Stealth really is almost as quiet as stock even at full throttle. I can't really feel a difference, but once I get tuned I expect to. I'm going to go to Iveytune In NJ, but it probably won't be for a while. I'll let you know.

As was already said, the stock rev limit is 7606. All you need to do is look at your stock ROM. If the rev limit is set to 7800, the car was flashed.
