EvoSoul: nothings perfect, even stock cars have factory defects, thats common sense, i'm just saying you make performance tuning sound like such a negative thing, like it should be avoided to save money, like why waste money on it when you could buy a bodykit, dress it up and just look good sitting in the parking lot. so like ur saying, tuning's for people who want trouble, that simple.

its fine if you're happy with stock performance and wanna keep ur factory warranty, but for most of us tuning is a big part of the whole driving experience

so think before you say naive **** like that

that's what i think...i can still call ppl i think are ricer "ricer", but is not my car so i have no place to tell u what u can and cannot do to it

I just purchased a Yellow OZ Lancer and first on my list of mods are:

Full Bodykit and Wing
Rims w/Tires
and a Cat-Back Exhaust

So let me guess, I am ricey now?

Some people prefer showcars rather than speed demons.

I laugh when some people call other people ricers because of normal things like bodykits and no engine work when that person themselves has 18" rims and full blow audio system. Any real racer would shave all that weight off.

I prefer to focus on making a car look good (NOT FAST) and worry about performance later. I'd rather spend my day at the exhibition show then on the quarter mile track collecting slips.

Sorry for the rant, but I see alot of bull**** on these forums, then again there are some really nice/cool people here aswell.

So lets all chill and drink a <---
Hey man, it's your car. Do whatever you want with it. I really don't see this so called stereotyping you are referring to, on these boards. If something looks "ricey", then it is labeled as such. This is called human nature.

However, I do understand your point. You simply want your car to look good, rather than go fast. That's fine man, and I don't think anyone could legitimately begrudge you that. In fact, I think it is a great idea.

One thing to note though.

Do I want to put a EVO VII badge on my car? No.
Just to clarify, an Evo VII wing and an Evo VII bodykit is equivalent to an Evo VII "badge", in my opinion(and probably 99% of everyone elses). It is the same, and just by you saying it isn't doesn't negate this simple fact. You are trying to make your car look like the Evo, HENCE, "Evo VII bodykit". So please don't say otherwise. Once again, it is your business what you do with your car, and I actually think putting on this bodykit and wing would be a good idea, and would enhance the looks of your gorgeous car(I do love Lancers, mind you). But let's make sure we are calling a spade - a spade, and not something else.

Please do post pics though when you can! I look forward to them.

Well like I said, a boydkit is a bodykit.

I just choose the EVO look because I like the smooth lines of the whole kit, not that I want to be an actual EVO, I hope someone understands what I am saying?

I liked the poopcutter line too, but the "nice personality" one is mine.

None of the moves to back WHAT up?
None of the aggressive moves to back up the aggressive look. It's kinda like "implied speed". "Looks fast - moves fast" kinda thing. I'm not looking for agreement here either, I'm looking for understanding juuuust like you.

"Does my car now magically have a EVO badge on it?'

when you get that kit you will.

...no offense man, but it's gonne be rice. your cars gonna look like an evo and when someone goes nuts for your car and asks where your big breaks and your intercooler are and you finally have to break the news that it's really your 105hp "show car".
Your going to feel the little man on the right side of your shoulder tap you again and say 'i told you so...'

it's your car man, do what you want. make sure and get some pics as soon as you get your body kit though. i don't mean this in an offensive matter so don't post again justifying your 'evo' pm me like hob says. we like to stay friendly here. hey, stick a couple of these in a beer bong haha, l

I understand completely what you are saying. It makes sense.

However, there are two situations here.

1) You care what other people think. In which case the mod's you have done(Evo Body Kit and Wing) WILL be considered "ricey", because you are attempting to look like an Evo when you are far, far from it. Whether your intention is to look like an Evo or not is irrelevant, as that WILL be the perception(from 100% of the people who see it).

2) You don't care what other people think. In which case do whatever the hell you want. But don't complain later when people point, laugh and say "rice" when they find out about what's under the hood, what the suspension is, drivetrain etc. (Remember though, you don't care what people think!)

I certainly won't be one of the people pointing and laughing, in fact just the opposite. But I am just preparing you for the inevitable.

Can't we all get along?

Now, now...I just have to jump in this thread...hehe. Hey do what you want with your car and I'll do what I want with mine. If you're a true racer, then you'll more than likely do the performance mods first to use on the track; however, if you're not then you'll probably do the looks and sounds first. I do disagree with people spending all this money on performance and/or look mods and they visit the track and sit there and look pretty with their decked out cars. Or they'd have a fast car and they'd drive extremely fast and out of control on public roads - total no-go!

A lot of posts in here a opinions, but this is also a great place to get some information about what to do with your/my car(s).

So, if someone hurt somebody's feelings (unintentionally), then let them know or just suck it up and drive on!

I just consider ricey taste, not looks.

A civic with a full bodykit and no mods is still tasteful.

However,

A civic with a 6 foot wing, unpainted bodykit, Type-R badges, 3 rims and a donut tire, is not tasteful.

I just think some people here should recognize there is a race crowd and a show crowd in the import community.

Man that's got to be a sight for sore eyes. That could be employed as a plane.

They are all over my town.

The worst is some guy in like a 1996 Dodge Neon has supra style wing with an aluminum APR wing ontop of that one, 6 foot clearance, no lie.

Anyhow like I said, someone tell me the differane between and 'EVO Package' for a Lancer and a 'TRD Package' for the Celica.

What are you trying to prove with this TRD thing? Just get the damn kit! Save that line for when someone actually attacks you.
