kinda stupid really...

I think this whole rice argument is stupid....first of all i think it's true...everyone who tunes or enhances their import's looks is a ricer by definition. Really, whether it came from bikes or cars it doesn't matter...i mean no one should be offended by it but i could see some people finding it derrogatory, but that's another story. My point here is that it doesn't matter what other people think, some will always like your car and others won't, I believe there is a saying that goes like this: opinions are like *******s, everyone has one and they stink...
So be happy with what you have and can afford, change whatever u want, disregard any nasty comments and be happy...life is not about pleasing everyone...it's just impossible.
I do understand though that some people might go overboard with their methods of changing their cars, then again that's why they are doing it in the first place to make heads turn around whether it is in a good way or in a "wtf" way...
Last but not least just to make this fun....this rice calling thing, it's only in the US last time i checked....do people in Japan call each other ricers too?would be funny...or do they say: " dude your car is so noodled out!!" or better yet for those who drive domestics( american imports for them) would they call those potatoed out cars? lol...

I would agree... BUT...

I would have to agree, the term "RICE ROCKET" does refer to and did come from crotch rockets, But (and listen carefully so as not to get confused) no one said anything about the history of rice "ROCKETS". We simply stated "RICE". And with any slang term it may also have many different meanings behind the word... Also if you look carefully at the Rice styles of the crotch rocket and modded import compacts, They follow the same patterns... So my original question still stands, Why is "rice" bad?

Please do not take any of this to heart... We are all here to voice our own opinions... Thats what makes this forum so great... I voice mine only to take part in a interesting debate...

Talking A short, on topic, story...

I use to be in the US army and during my time in, I spent a year in korea. You want to talk about some so called riced out cars... One of the more popular cars for the young one to mod out was this little deawoo... I wish I had a pic of the one that stands out in my mind, but I don't. This one had an oversized exhaust tip and a bumbin' stereo, even some aftermarket rims, although they were still 14's because you can't get anything bigger on the car... the best part of the car is it was plastered with hello kitty stickers from bumper to bumper... and yes a guy was driving... this is a car you would have to see to believe...

But we should all do just as that person did... "Do what you want!" Well, minus the hello kitty stickers, lets not start a tend with that here in the states...

And to help with the mental picture...

I could say sooo many mean things, b. Be happy I'm suuuuch a nice guy.

I think there's a use for the term "rice" but only for the purpose of joking around. I don't think anyone should take it too seriously. The bottom line is if you moded a card and like the outcome...then you should take other people's opinions like grains of salt. I have to admit though...it's funny and easily understood to say "look at the riced out <insert car name here>" to your friends and have them chuckle and know what you mean.

The only thing that bothers me about the rice monicker is that it's fairly often used in seriously harsh and offensive terms. Usually this is the case when American car owners (owners of American cars, not Americans who happen to own cars) start dismissing any tuned and/or body moded import. Anyway...it's funny how a commonly used/accepted term can still cause such a stir.

if your gonna change the exhaust and catalysitc converter, you might want to change your intake as well, just to keep the air flowin smoothly. good luck with it, that's pretty much what i'm lookin to do to, change exhaust, cat-back, intake, and maybe the Kamanari body kit, its not to drastic of a change but it looks very agressive and sweet. rock on.
