What the sound difference between the 2 HKS catback im thinking of getting
I no my sig said the i had the Ti-carbon, btu thats cause i was saving money for it(i almost have enough). but whats the sound difference between the Hi-power(silent or whatever) and the Ti-carbon... thanks
I have the TI-Carbon and my neighbor has the regular version on his STI. I believe its exactly the same except for the Carbon Fiber canister and TI tip. Sizes looked the same. Correct me if I'm wrong =p They sound the same to me. However, its a pretty quiet exhaust with a deep growl on WOT. His car is just a bit louder and thats because of the engine in an STI.
oh ok so the hi-power and the Ti-carbon sound about the same, or is it the silent hi-power im talking about. like how loud is it, can you hear it from down the street just cruising or taking off or at around 3500 rpms when you shift.
HKS has the name, but I would consider more options in catbacks. It doesn't have to be expensive to be a good catback. I would look at all the other brands before you make a final decision. Good luck my friend.
They should have the same sound. The Ti Carbon is just a "special edition" looks thing since it has the carbon fiber and the titanium tip. If the exhaust was full titanium including the piping, then it would make a huge difference in the sound. Since only the tip is titanium on the Carbon Ti, it most likely will not make a difference in the sound. I like the looks of the Hi-power better and the sound isn't bad.....And I'm sure you've seen and heard that black Evo VII video with the Hi-power exhaust. Keep in mind that both exhausts are resonated and aren't full 3 inch. I've heard that they are 2.75 inch and have fitment problems.

well i like the hi power to , i look at an evo 8 with one today and it looked liek it went out sideways, does anyone have pics of both of these exhaust on the car, if you can a couple diff views. but then i like the carbon one, so would it be a better idea to buy the ti carbon muffler and just have them put 3" piping with a resonater, or just buy the hi power and dont have problems.
Their both the same as ^^ mentioned. They both slant sideways. Mines not as much as my neighbor's though. The sounds are the same. I'm thinking you are talking about a silencer that can be added. They are pretty quiet when cruising and when around 3500 rpm it gives a deep growl. 5k+ screams! I enjoy my carbon Ti and dont regret it at all, considering i live in quiet neighborhood and dont want to be screaming down the block in the middle of the night with a super loud exhaust. I've got a TBE so it could be louder w/o a resonator. However, ^^^ is right, some DP's bottleneck to 2.75...but oh wellz. I can live with that for now.
GL with your choice and I hope you like whatever you choose. I'd say carbon ti though if you can get it for good price. Looks sweeter =p

If you want loud, i'd go with the ETS =)!!
^^^ Landis, Sure I can do that, however, I'm not at home now. I'm visiting in SO Cal for the week. I'll try and dig up some archive pics on the boards if i can.
