Choice on my new intercooler

I had a wreck recently. I hit a blown out 18 wheeler tire which took out my front bumber, intercooler, back fender wells, and back bumper. The guy that is working on my car told me he has access to discounts on A'Pexi and Blitz intercoolers. Which one should I go with?

Depends on how much of a discount! If he charges anywhere near 5 bills, get an ETS!
Love mine, and so does the car!

It may not be a bad idea to do a quick search and look at some of the options offered by Evo-specific vendors.

Man the SAME EXACT thing happened to my car.. I'm in the process of getting it fixed as well.

I've been reading reviews and ETS's FMICs cant be beat for the price they offer it for. Read nothing but good things about them.

i like my buschur RACE, but ets is very good as well. i guess it all depends on how much power your making and how much you plan to make.

How thick should the core of the intercooler be? They offer it in 3", 3.5", and 4".

Depends on what your goals are. If you're staying stock turbo.. 3" should be good enough. But I would get a 3.5" just to be safe, if the extra $100 isnt an issue. (Well that is what I'm doing and I plan on staying on stock turbo) 3.5" is the largest you can go without modification or trimming to anything.

Well I'll go 3.5" core then. Should I stay with the 2.5" piping or get the 3"?

Are they just changing out the FMIC, or are they changing out the piping's as well?

MaxKanisha is right. If you're going to stick with stock turbo, getting a huge intercooler will hurt your spool up time. But I wouldn't get the 4" core unless you're planning on running 1000whp.

But the best things is, You're Getting a New Intercooler!

Go with the 3 inch. ETS, and you should get a JDM rear bumper too sense your going to have to get a new one anyways.

Then wouldn't getting the 3" core with 2.5" piping be a better choice.

I might be wrong here but this is my reasoning. Because you're staying with the stock turbo and my bet is your car is daily driver. The 3" core with 2.5" piping will reduced your turbo lag and give you quicker boost recovery between shifts during spirited driving.

Even with the 3" core, I'm sure it can still support up 500whp easily.

For me, if it's a daily driver I'll go for response 1st then power. If it's race then power 1st then response. Of course there's other stuff in between.

What else are you doing to the car since the you said that the accident damage your bumpers and everything. No new JDM lights or Voltex front bumper? Do you have any pics of the damages?

the best 2 choices would be either the ets 3.5in i/c and there 2.5in upper and lower pipes or buschur deluxe i/c, it comes with the turbo outlet pipe and lower ic pipe that is very short because of the 90 degree inlet of the i/c then just get their upper pipe. either one will be top notch.
