Personally, I'd go with the 2006. The MIVEC head is worth it. Plus, my situation right now, I want a better daily driver. The 2006 EVO is the better daily driver. Not to mention it will make more power...

You can't beat that price for a 2-3 year old EVO.

You can't go wrong as long as you stay away from the Evo X!

 

I'd personaly go for the IX RS.

Are you looking for more track-worthiness or more "comfort" (not like the Evo is comfortable to begin with)? Would you be able to deal with manual windows/locks/no radio? Can you live without ABS? If you can answer yes to those questions, the IX RS is for you.

If you'd like to have the sunroof, power everything, HIDs, etc. but be willing to sacrifice in the performance department, go for the VIII.

Just remember, the VIII is three years older and has more miles on it. The IX still falls under warranty as well.

go with the 06 for sure but not the rs if you want power windows (who doesn't) etc.

FWIW, I was tempted to buy your car. I used to have a RS and I loved it to death. I decided not to, because you frucked-up your paint, installed crappy audio gear, a fairly useless LICP with no supporting mods, and an el-cheapo exhaust that's just a step above an ebay product, none of which gives me confidence in the car. God knows what else happened.

 

to be honest, i would get the 03. i like to be comfertable and and evo 8 is not slow! also the 06 is one of those cars that a hardcore enthusiast would buy and believe me ppl like that drive their cars pretty hard. im not sayin they are all careless and abuse them but with such low miles and a low price it could be one those cars that been to the track a lot and he is selling the car without the mods.

the 03 has a clean record, all reciepts for maintenance and if everything checks out i would buy it.

but like everyone else said, MIVEC is a good thing to have so why not wait a little? you will deff see more evo 9's onn the market. dont ever settle for a car, you will regret it. believe me i know.

 

lol, you do realize that if my exhaust is " el cheapo " and just a step above an ebay exhaust, that the numbers it produces are just about equal to those systems that morons like you pay triple for. How exactly did I mess up my paint? Please educate me on that. My stereo actually sounds pretty good to me, and wasn't exactly a top priority to spend a lot of money on it... I honestly could care less if you were considering buying my car and decided not to.. your loss..

ummm, no I never said I messed up my paint by using a polisher. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with it, perhaps I was talking about a past car since a rotary polisher has not been used on my car... only a DA polisher, perhaps you should read exactly what I said in whatever thread of mine you were stalking.
