I would go with the SE personally.

Unless he wants to pay more for that MR badge, that is nothing special. At all.

Honestly, I would test drive both so that you may get a feel of both transmissions since one's a 5 speed and the other's a 6 speed. If you're going to put a lot of mods on your Evo, go with the 5 speed. If you're going to put only the basic mods on and do a lot of daily driving, go with the MR. If it was me, I would go with the black 5 speed GSR SE.

Ha I was actually going to buy that same SE, I live up in wisconsin, I tried to get the dealer down to 22 but he wont budge. good luck trying to deal with them, they seem like *******s.
he said he wouldnt even drop his price 300 bucks.
it is a nice car, it has some dings in the body though.
but it does look pimp.

It's pretty nice to have sixth when you're cruizing down the highway. Even in sixth, the evo still pulls like mad when you want to pass. I like the mr.

according to fueleconomy.gov the 6speed gets less MPG than the 5 speed... i thought it would be the other way around...

go with the se if he is going to mod it...if not just for fun driving the mr is nice just because of the better suspension and 6-speed for highway

SE there was rumors going around that the SE models were actually similar to the 07 aussie models with some minor tweaking.

I can't recall if it was a tuner or shop owner who said SE's were consistently pulling higher numbers (surely nothing crazy)

Im not sayin this is fact nor fiction just some interesting things I have heard on EvoM in the recent years.
