Colbalt sucks *** unless you compare it with a non turbo lancer.

This is a no brainer my friend, Enjoy your evo.

just decide for yourself.

If you get a cobalt ss just don't be like those stupid ricers on youtube who think their car is godly fast because they beat another car on a retarded highway pull.

Well I know ALOT about the cobalts since I used to own a Ion redline previously to the evo. Only thing about the cobalt is once you mod it, bye bye warranty. And there are having a few problems with some of the balts, overall great car though. If your passion is truly racing and cars, then this should be a no brainer for you because FWD will get you very angry lol

O and thats crank hp man, those cars with max bolton's are making about 320-330 whp, then again though, your gunna have to have slicks on the car to run lower then high 12's

GL on whatever car you chose!!

Haha I can understand your frustration but you did ask this on an evo board
The newer cobalt is worlds away from the supercharged variant I will give it that, sadly it's following hasn't improved very much though.
I'd say test drive both and go from there.

The new Cobalt is an absolute beast, it's as fast as a new Evo X MR on the track which is itself supposedly faster than the previous IX and VIII at the same tracks. It's a matter of deciding what you want and what your intended goals are for the car. If you're staying relatively stock, both cars are fine. People who drive AWD cars (myself included) tend to treat FWD or even RWD cars as if they were lepers, suffering from an incurable disease. It's total BS. FWD cars can be perfectly fine performance cars, Honda has known this for years. Unless you plan on pushing large amounts of power and drag racing, traction won't be an issue. If you live somewhere where there isn't any snow (or very little), both cars are again on par. Drive both and see which one you like the most. A big plus for the Cobalt is that Chevy may offer factory approved upgrades (I'm not sure whether this got canceled). Mod an Evo and you're warranty is gone, hell the car you're talking about likely has no warranty to speak of already.

Motor Trend tested the Cobalt around Willow and it was almost as fast as the Evo X MR! forget about gas mileage, after you're done nodding either one they will be about the same. If you can afford the maintenance of the Evo I would get it. If not, Cobalt is better for you. I just rolled over 84k miles today and was thinking about how my Evo feels stronger than it did with 10 miles on it. If you treat her right she will reward you with years of driving pleasure. Don't forget about resale value!
