how much of this actually needed for 500-550whp?
lol you are funny just because he did it does not mean follow the leader. 400whp might be plenty for you or WAY to much just depends im shooting for 500 but if its to much then im turning down the boost and retuning for a lower hp number. its not all about beating a viper/corvette its about whats comfortable to you. I would hate to have a car that none of my friends or mom girlfriend want to roll in because they fear for there life. Not to mention you never took in consideration if you could control that much power. Also dont beat on your car ever second speed racer and it will be fine. if your going to be doing all that heavy duty launching expect to get ready to drop another 3k on a good Transfercase.
RockmanX, I would love to see you go with 500whp then say its too much and turn it back down
!!! You would be the first person that i have seen do that. Once you have it, you just want more, thats what got me to where im at. I bought my car with lite mods making 320whp and that was fast till i started doing more and more and more and felt the power, i thought 500whp was were i was stopping, dont get me wrong, its fast but not as fast as you think. when your car hits full boost and you start drifting all over the road thats where i stop. That should be around the mid 600whp range and i should be there when i get my car tuned for Q16. I rode in a car with 675whp and thats fast, thats what i want so thats what im going after. would i have a rear wheel daily driver with that much hp, probably not, and if i did i definately wouldnt get on it the way i do the evo. But good luck getting a taste of that kind of hp and then turning back down, let me know how that works out

hmmmm i guess you need the cliff notes and did not even read and understand what i said. ill try again. I said my goal is 500 whp your goal happens to be 675whp from what you said. You state ahhhh once you get a taste your gonna want to go faster. Sorry you have me confused with other members on this board Where are you gonna go where you need that much power seriously. not includeing a track or drag strip our autox. So you drive around town speeding is what im gathering considering i dont really speed nor do i drive my evo more than maybe 10 miles a day why do i need more than 500. Im building this for track use and to have fun a meets like this years shootout. Not street racing thats dangerious
. We all have different tolerence levels you might enjoy that much power thats good for you hell i might love mellons 700 hp when i go riding with him soon but that does not mean i want it. i guess you have not been scared or near death in a car. no sense in that much power way to much maintenance and beside a evo with 500whp can beat a ****load of cars already. We all have different goals 500 is what IM after if i dont feel safe ill drop it i heard plenty of people retune for lower hp. Just cause you have the power or Ability for more does not mean you have to set the evo on kill mode 24/7 but to each his own im sure your gonna get your 675 and continue to grow. Glad you enjoy it. if i want more ill just throw some q16 in like you and let the good times roll till its empty
. but as you know before you even dare go over 500 the bottom end needs to be built so you dont blow anything.

I've had more than a few customs ask for a ride in my car and when we got done say "shiaaat, I don't even want that kind of power, it's toooo fast"
and here I am looking for more power.
Not everyone has a desire for crazy power or even a place to make good use of it. Truly, a sane person would stop at 375-400awhp, that can be had on the stock 9 turbo with good supporting mods on 93 octane. Beyond that and it's time to pony up for a bigger turbo and the madness begins
to the OP, that mod list is solid, you can get there much cheaper but not nearly as safe and reliable. There's quite a few guy doing 500 on the stock shorty/head/tranny/ etc... I was one of those guys too but I always had feeling that my days were numbered because I run it sooo hard. I stepped up the buschur shorty/head and feel worlds more confident about my car now.

When you are on one of the bigger road race courses (about 2-3min lap ones), and you're just entering the long straight from a high-third or low-fourth gear turn, you want all the power in the world you can get. 'Too much power' can always be remedied by throttle control.
Reliability is another issue though.

That list is ridiculous. I guess there should be 2 parts or lists. How to get to 500-550 whp without worrying about money and How to get to 500-550whp on a semi budget. That list is crazy.
Here's a realistic non baller type list.
FMIC
3" Exhaust = $800-1000
Ported intake mani and exhaust mani $200
Ported Throttle body 65mm = $200-300
Milspec TB shaft seals = $21.21
FP Red turbo(possibly ported) $1900
EPM o2 Dump $200 or so
FP wastegate = $150 or so
E85 or Meth injection
Injectors =$ 300-400
Walbro fuel pump $70
Bov $150-300
MBC $100-250
Headstuds $80
CAMS $500+ or so
Intake $100-200
New clutch - Exedy Twin $1500 or so
Good tune. $500 or free
These are prices off the top of my head. Keep in mind you can get some killer deals by watching the For Sale forum. I have had quite a few killer deals from these forums to ebay. Example. I got my cams great condition from ebay normally $600 I bought them for $200+shipping.
Most people get parts over duration of time to install and appreciate the power netted, then uprade. Then you have people that drop their car off and say...I want all the works. They get it done and then they sell the car. This is either due to boredom or just stupidity. Waste of time and money, and just dumb.
If you're mechanically inclined try and do the basics yourself...will save you money in labor. Now if you're the type to need instructions for installing a basic intake...then it may not be wise to do installs yourself.

you forget might as well add a ebay ported 02 housing and might as well if your smart port the FP RED. Main reason mine is still sitting in the box it came in back in dec lol
. I know mellon and others state its safe to ride on stock bottom end with say 500-510ish but anything after that is borrowed time. I would suggust once you get there to just start saving up to build your bottom end up. vs wait till it breaks then your out a car until its fixed. dont forget you MIGHT AS WELL SINCE YOUR INSTALLING A CLUTCH get the tranny redone by sheps or br its only 805-895 and that would help alot but again its all in what you want best method is to buy one part at a time in no rush and eventually you will get there

This is essentially my car but with AMS parts 555whp,I also have suspension and I'm doing brakes now. By the way Now I'm going for 800whp on a dailty driver, DSS stage 5, 950R.....etc. Yes you need those parts. for it to be reliable. I drive mine everywhere, Just don't expect to be following me when I stomp on it. I had 548 at 1000k miles, I did blow the stock motor, at less than 2k miles. The rebuild is highly recomended!! Bushur is a top Vendor they wouldn't BS you! Mine drives great with 10K miles on her now. No issues.
Remember don't skimp out on something you love. If you do it'll break and you'll be very upset!! I cried when my 6spd Blew, I had the money set aside for my shep, but Still I CRIED!!

im not knocking you rockman just having some fun. i went for a ride in a 675awhp car and shxx my pants and said thats crazy, and here i am now trying to get there!!!!!!! I only drive my car to work and home every day which is a 20 mile round trip, do i need 565whp, no, do i need 675whp, no, but it is nice knowing its there when you want it. just because a person has millions of hp doesnt necassarily mean hes driving like a idiot, ya know what i mean!!!?? I drive my car responsibly and respectably, its just nice when the person with the zo6 with a supercharger comes by expecting to blow your doors off, hes looking at your taillights
. to each there own but i think once you get the taste of more hp than what your car is putting out your gonna crave it or when that other modded car flys by ya you might just want a little more, anyway its about having fun out there

Jason900rr i can agree to that.
. but i am of sound mind that there is always somebody faster. beating a supercharged Z06 is some serious business bro. Seems somebodies evo is not playing any games. But guess what before you can want more you have to at least get there first safely. Builds take time so i can see how the method of since your there you might as well type deal. then on top of that i dont want my car to turn in to a gold digger. 500 just seems like a nice round number then when i take this to the track and start tracking i want to have fun and as you know tracking is not all about having the highest hp car there. Also drivabilty I dont personally like cars that idle extrememly rough been there done that. but i agree having that sleeper power is crazy. Nobody knows till they pull up and think its whats up. As i said and im sure you know a 500whp evo can slaughter all night on tons of rides of equal whp even so lets start there.

op, start trolling the for sale threads. slightly used stuff costs considerably less and it still does the job. none of this stuff is cheap, but if you cheap out now, you may regret it later if/when you slick up the track
yeah definitely... the only thing I wouldn't buy used is a turbo or clutch...
im really wondering how necessary are the driveshaft components
if I were to start by simply "highway racing" (not realistically but that driving style) and not launching, could I go with out the trans case and a few other driveshaft mods? can't imagine the stock peices breaking without much hard launching
