rear diff

how often should the rear diff fluid be changed? is it the same as the transfer and trans, also do you need any special tools?

I think the manual says every 15k miles and the only things needed are a jack and a large metric socket, 19mm i believe.

You'll want a fluid pump so you can put fluids into the fill spot you can't pour it in easily.

Same as the transfer case.
Normal use = Every 30K
Severe use = Every 15K

just did all 3 of mine...not a bad process make sure its warm(been run) so it drains easily, and you will def need a hand pump there cheap at auto zone to put the fluids in, as said above
i used all amsoil seems to work pretty good

Very bad and costly Idea. Stick with the OEM diaqueen for the Tcase and rear dif.

you will get many many answers, the correct answer is what do you like to use.

do you research and come up with the best oil, you cand go wrong with OEM,

how often should the fluid be changed it depends how meticulus you are and how hard you drive you car.

you want to step it up a notch get this from us

A little suggestion. Make sure you have clearance to remove the fill plug BEFORE draining it. I drained it and could you know, the inch they give you was way too small to get my socket wrench in there. I had to use my vice grips to tighten it, untorqured of course since nothing will fit in there. I'd recommend you pick up a normal 19mm wrench for the job.

Hope i didnt doom my tranny!

I just filled my xfer case /tranny/ rear dif with Royal purp.. most of the professional and the mitsu dealer said its great stuff! but as im reading the forums here im kind of scared now, is royal purple that bad? i just use the car as a daily driver..no mods i dont even race it besides the occasional 3rd-4th gear punch on the highway.
