Need some opinions/advice please!

Sup guys,

I am currently looking for an Evo. However, there are no Evo9's for sale here in Houston...but there are a few 05 EVO 8's..I just want some advice, should i just settle with an 05 evo 8, which has 35k miles, for 22k(prob. will try to bargin for 20k) or should i be pateint and wait for an 06 evo9, because it will be worth the wait? Let me know what you guys would do!

Thanks!
-Tony

This question gets asked a lot.

What are your goals / use for the car?

If you already know you want the IX, just wait for it. At least get what you want from the start, rather than settling and always thinking in the back of your head you should've gotten a IX. Im my opinion, the IX has all of the better options all evo owners seem to want...Front bumper, MIVEC, 10.5 hotside, interior. Look in the sale threads, lots of low miles IX in there if you dont mind traveling alittle. GL!

Yeah i know the difference, just want a new car ASAP. My goals are just bolt-ons/no major upgrades. Plan on running stock turbo, and will be satisfied with 320-350whp.

Since you only plan on doing bolt-ons, definitely go with the IX.

Best advice I can give you is don't rush your purchase, you will probably regret it down the road.

I was in the same boat looking for an Evo IX MR in Austin. I looked in the area for a couple of months and they just don't exist. You may want to look into purchasing the car from out of state and having it shipped to you. This will widen your options and the shipping costs aren't really that terrible. it's around $400-$500 to ship a car from CA to TX through DAS Shipping. You might even be able to talk the dealer into covering the cost of shipping (I was able to). Just make sure to get a pre-purchase inspection of the vehicle if you're not going to be able to see it in person before you buy it.

Be careful having a car shipped.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a car without looking it over in person.

Widen your search radius. A little extra of a trip to get the right car for you will be worth it in the end.

Slow down, you really want the 9 right? Then wait for it, or drive a little further to get it. I live in Texas and I bought mine in Georgia. You will not be upset when you get it. I love mine and I will never get rid of it! To MIVEC or not to MIVEC that is the question.

i really dont see this whole evo 9 is better crap. A evo is a evo period. granted the 9 has the better turbo BUT you can always spend 620 and upgrade a evo 8 to the turbo and add cams wow your there. The front bumper on a nine is pretty cool but i prefer body kits myself so that did not sway me. The interior of 9 is leather im not a fan of that at all to much matience to keep it looking A1. the only real reason to get a nine is its somewhat newer??? I seen plenty of extremely low milage evo8 running around so cant use that as a selling point. Again a Evo is a Evo and the MIVEC is not all that and a bag of chips. I think it just evo 9 guys recommend that and as well as 8s i said get whats in your budget and what you can go and view. Where i live they dont sell evos we had 9 total that came No MR editions and only one of those was a evo 9. That was from 2003-2006 and the dealer sold most of them to other dealers only 3 of them were actually sold to people here because they were military. So i was in the same boat as you I had to fly up to PA to get mine but i still searched for a longtime before i bought one. I got mine from a toyota dealer off of ebay motors. Somebody earlier said dont buy what you cant view and i agree just because its a 9 does not mean there are not some lemons and rundown ones for sale with low milage. if you dont have the ablility to go inspect it and look it over it should not be a option unless your a very trusting person and most of the time you end up getting the shaft.
