Keep in mind, usually injector sizing is approx 50% larger than pump on e85 and you will need lots of fuel flow. Some people also will experience cold start issues when running e85. Also, remember winter and summer formulations are a bit different where ethanol content can vary from 70% to 85%. Correct me if I'm wrong guys (and gals). I personally think e85 is a great value but depending on availability it may or may not be the way to go for you. Make sure your tuner is familiar with e85 tuning as well since it has a different stoichiometric tuning value. I think 9.75 versus 14.7 for gas. Lots of tuners on here that can help you out.

We are shooting for around 500whp .

I am going to be running the RC 1000cc Injectors.

As my car isn't a daily driver anymore, and my warranty... lol... I have no warranty.

To my knowledge yes... but I could be wrong (highly unlikely) LOL jk ... If I am wrong... then I will take the proper steps to ensure that I can run E85.

DC_TypeR im waiting to see your numbersi think you are going to start a frenzy with your numbers honestly and mike at awd motor sports if it wasnt for you I would have never opened this thread you love e85 lol but yess i did no i needed bigger injectors but I cant find any 1000cc and also im in no serious rush becase AMS has me waiting 100 years for there parts but i feel it is worth the wait im trying to kill this stock turbo then see what garret makes

you know what would be handy..they have a website for e85 locations yes..but it'd be great if we could have stations listed in our Nav system for when we take road trips..

so far ive held off on putting e85 on the X since i go to Austin alot and dont want to get stranded in the hill country..

This site has a lot of good information. Here is a simplified version of what I know and understand....

First my setup is PTE 1200cc injectors obviously for more fuel flow and a Walbro 255.

From what I have read and skimmed through, we have covered that E85 is better because of the lower temperatures, however, it consumes more fuel...But why?

I think people misunderstand that E85 is much LESS efficient than 93 octane gasoline. Correct me if im wrong but here is my understanding of why.

93 octane fuel has more BTU (British Thermal Units) than E85. Lets say 93 octane 93 octane has 20,000 BTU's and E85 has 12,000 BTU's. There is no way that E85 can produce more power at the same fuel rate as 93.

The reason that E85 is capable of these higher numbers that you see is because of the Latent heat of Vaporization property of E85 vs 93 Octane. For anyone who knows and understands how airconditioning works, this is an easy concept to grasp. If you dont know, here is my best explaination....

When a liquid evaporates, it absorbs a certain amount of heat. As a result of this change of state, the surrounding area is cooled. E85 has a higher Latent heat of Vaporization than 93, which means cooler temperatures, which is why it is safer to run at higher boost levels, regaurdless of whatever octane you think E85 is.

Also, A/F ratios come into play here. E85 has produces its most power at an A/F ratio of around 6.0:1, while 93 octane produces its most power around 12.0:1 ratio. . Because more fuel is used, a longer potential burn is available and due to the LHV of E85 this is possible in a safe manner! These are the reasons E85 is capable of producing more power....simply said, its just a safer fuel to run.

Anyone feel free to correct me or ask any questions about anything posted here. Im not a know it all and I am definately wrong at times! lol
