How much do you have left on your loan??? just bust your *** and pay off the s2k. You'll be glad you did it in the long run. You'll have best of both worlds!

well my ultimate plan is to trade in my s2k, and get an evo. Ill probably sell all the aftermarket S2k stuff i have and buy a little civic/crx beater and make it my autox/trackday beater.

i dont like my S2k as a daily and i dont want to work as much/hard as i do just to drive a little civic beater since i cant afford two nice cars.

Evo daily/autox and civic/crx track car. I used to have a 92 Civic and i miss it so much...

I owe around 12K so i COULD refinance and afford both but...its the insurance that would kill me...that and i'd be broke since all my money would go to my cars. Not Gonna Happen, and i cant deal with my S for 2-3 more years as a daily.

I say go for it and enjoy the fact that you've gotten to experience both of these amazing cars. Different, but both cars are awesome in their own way. I've had 7 Subaru's, a Hachi Roku, a Type R, an Evo, etc.. and never regret selling a single car because it gave me the chance to try out another!

I have the same outlook Infinite

Heres a conversation starter lol

Why should i get an evo versus an Sti? I know the facts...but what about your personal opinions that i cant get from a car review video/article or performance test.

Oh lord, that's a new can of worms.

Both cars are great and offer tons of performance for your dollar, but the Evo is more fun when you play with the steering wheel, not to mention far more responsive to mods.

The only things that the STI honestly has over the Evo is:
  • Cruise control
  • Boxer exhaust sound
  • Seat height adjustability
  • Nicer interior
  • Lower insurance rates

...and even most of those are just creature comforts.

It sounds like you don't need much convincing and that you are leaning toward getting one anyway- drive one and see if that is what you really want. It IS way more practical for daily driving with 4 doors and AWD, and modifying potential is great as far as how much hp you can gain for dollars spent. If those are the important things to you it sounds like AWD/turbo platform lie the Evo fits the bill better than RWD with N/A motor S2k-

^ Plus it is fun to have four doors and still be able to surprise most V-8s along with a few Porsche owners here and there. You couldn't do that in an S2000.

you can pay off 12k in a year, year and a half. just pay an extra $100-200(i know, it sounds easier than it is) a month, it'll go straight to principle. i say this because i wish i did it with my vw gti 337 edition(great DD). also if your worried about insurance just decide which car will be your daily and which will be your track car. put the track car on storage insurance(if you did it with your payed off s2k it's be very, very cheap). you can call your insurance agent to add coverage a day or two before you take it out. pplus in the long run you'll have alot of advantages like... you can still by a beater and put the evo in storage during the winter, that'll save you on insurance. also if you have a nice car paid off and you hit some money problems you can sell it for pure profit.

If your set on getting rid of the s2k, I wouldn't trade it in, part it out, put it up for sale and make some money.

It really doesn't matter though, you'll be happy with either cars since they are both bad ***!!!

PM me if you want specifics on the Evo VS STi topic, I think the forums are already too clogged with those arguments!

I used to own an S2000 but I sold it about 1.5 years ago because I was about to buy a house and wanted to get rid of some debt. For the past few months I was looking at S2000s and was about to get one. Since I already had an Accord the S2000 would have been a weekend/fun car.

Then I started looking at Evo's and Sti's just for laughs. I was thinking why not have a DD/Fun car all in one. Up until now I had never owned a new car so I was looking at 08/09 Sti's and 08 Evo X's. About a week ago I went ahead and bought an RR Evo X GSR with SSS and Aero package and I couldn't be happier. There are only 2 things I miss about the S2k

1) Dropping the TOP!!!!!
2) The "****-pit" feeling of being in the drivers seat.

But the the benefits of the Evo FAR out-weighed the benefits of the S2000 for me and I absolutely love the car. Before I made my final decision I did A LOT of research on this car since I already knew a lot about the S2000. Really no on can tell you what is right for you. Read through the forums and make an educated decision. There is a wealth of information on these forums. I knew I liked the car but I needed to know more information about the techincal side and the reliability of the car. Reading through the different parts of these forums really helped me make my final decision.

This is actually incorrect, AMS has shown that the STI responds very well to bolt-ons and is just as capable as the Evo, for the most part. What it really boils down to is personal preference, some people really like the hardcore, always ready to bite your face off attitude that the Evo has while others like the more laidback, stealth-bomberesque feel of the STI. Drive both and decide for yourself.
