A few problems there...

1. ACD doesn't allow you to alter the amount of torque going to any particular axle, it only alters the timing of when the clutches in the center differential lock up and/or release to provide traction better suited for certain surfaces.
2. If you want an SE, you're not getting a sunroof, as it's not an option on that model, plus it has an aluminum roof. Trust me, you won't miss the sunroof. I live in Southern California (as mentioned before), and prior to my two Evos I had three vehicles, all of which had a sunroof ('94 Accord EX coupe, '94 Isuzu Rodeo LS, '98 Mercedes E320) and I don't really have a huge desire to have a sunroof again.

I miss our S2000 like crazy, someday I want one as a second/third car. You should sell yours so that someday someone who truly appreciates it can buy it!

I don't fiddle with the ACD settings too often, given the climate of Southern California, but when it rains or even drizzles I always just put it in gravel mode by habit. Of course I don't always realize the difference (since it really only makes a difference when turning), but I've taken some corners with much more confidence given the stability even in worsening conditions. But I figure even if I didn't have it, I wouldn't really mind too much since it's not like the standard viscous center LSD in the '03s and '04s didn't do their job.

I sold my S2k to get an Evo and I miss it very much. If I lived in a warmer climate where I could drive it all year I never would have done it. The S2k is an amazing sports car that gives a driving experience the Evo just can't match. The Evo does make a great year-round daily though and they can be made very fast quite easily. It all depends what you're looking for from the car.

sorry, but you're talking about 2 cars made for 2 completely different purposes. I've had the chance to drive both - and while the S2k is exceptionally well balanced (great turn-in, very progressive oversteer), great for dropping the top, driving around like a go-kart, the evo was designed as a completely different beast.

With the gravel/snowy roads you're talking about, the evo is an excellent match, doing things an s2k could never dream of. controllable 4-wheel power slides? in the wet, on gravel, in the snow, at highway speeds you say?! this is where the evo really excels. you just can't power out of a turn the same way in an s2000. let's not forget there's an extra 2 seats in the rear for the swedish twins, and a boot that can actually fit quite a few bodies (rather than the suitcase compartment in the s2k )

bang for buck, the evo will respond to mods much better as the 4g63 was made w forced induction in mind. i'm sorry, but you just can't rally an s2000. and when the snow/sleet/and hail comes raining down, when you'd usually be hanging up your keys, the evo is just getting warmed up.

I gotta say that I have an Evo and S2k and now I'm selling the Evo since the s2k is the better daily. But I'm in SoCal so I guess that says everything. The S2k has the slicker tranny anyways.

^ I'm not attacking your opinion, but you really think that the S2000 is a better daily driver? In what way(s)? I've driven an S2000 before (though driving it once obviously doesn't compare to the experiences you have owning one) and also live in So Cal (Newport Beach), but I remember it being similarly stiff and more difficult to see out of. But I will say that its transmission was probably the smoothest that I have ever driven of any car.

I agree it's stiffer with stock suspension as compared to my Evo on JICS, but still bearable by a young wippersnapper such as myself. And I agree it's tough to see out of! I can't rely on rear window coverage if the top is up that's for sure, but I've learned to still cope with it. The top is usually down anyways. But I will totally agree that the transmission is the best I've ever used! Tossed some Redline Lightweight Shockproof in there with a Greddy shift knob and I swear it feels like a gated shifter everything I let 'er rip.

Honestly, I would love to keep both cars, but the current economic climate has forced me to make a choice. I've had the Evo nearly 4 years and the S2k only 4 months now. I bought one since I heard this was the last year they were making them so I considered it a kind of investment of sorts. Funny, but true. I ended up getting a used 2005 in Suzuka Blue with the blue interior (it seriously looks so awesomely unique). I guess the ultimate downfall of me choosing the S2k over the Evo was the the overall twitchy steering due to the quick rack (really a plus on the track and the resulting wide turning radius because of it) and the MIL.Spec ported parts made the gas petal a bit too responsive as well for daily driving. I guess there is such thing as too fast for the street.

And this is a bit of a sarcastic joke, but I the last time I went to Streets of Willow, the only cars that could pass me in the Intermediate group was a couple S2k's. Now, I don't consider myself the next Schumacher, but I go track racing at least twice a year and I'm decent. I guess the AWD and ACD in the Evo gave me a false sense of driver ability. I live by the mantra that "if you can't beat them, join them." In this case I took it literally and did just that. Hopefully now I'll learn to go fast the way FR drivers have been doing for decades before the Evo's came out with their technological advancements.

Plus after buying the S2k I realized just how huge the Evo was in my 1-car garage. The S2k fits a lot less snugly and with more storage and overhead room I already have quite a few mods on the S2K and I already miss fiddling with EcuFlash, but I have a Greddy EMU for the S2k so I'll get my fix there. Engine is totally stock for now, but just waiting for the right deal to come along for a Vortech/Comptech supercharger kit. I know it will never be as fast as the Evo and I eventually know the mid-range drone will get on my nerves (Espilir JGT500R cat-back w/o silencers), but cruising down PCH with the top down was an experience that can not be duplicated by many other cars.

I hope this was the explanation you were looking for.

The evo felt like a truck for me when I first switched from s2k, and that is for CT9A, so it would be even more extreme for CZ4A. I really really miss s2k and hoping to buy one as a second car if I get a chance. Where I currently live, a 1/2 mile stretch is a rarity, even on highways.

There is no doubt evo is a much faster car that can seat more people and carry more things, perhaps save some really tight auto-x courses.

Evo is definately fun to drive, but the experience in s2k is very different and in my opinion, more fun. Top down, low seating position, linear output of naturally aspirated engine, slick shifter, short wheelbase and snug interior makes the performance trade off worthwhile.

However, if I were to live in the states and need to get a car (and the only car), I would choose the evo without second thoughts. For some southern states, I may need some time to think.

If power and torque is your thing, you shouldn't even consider s2k. First of all, FI completely destroys the purpose of s2k, secondly not only you need to buy 5-8k kit, but also you need to upgrade drivetrain, clutch and differentials at the same time. I honestly don't know how the transmission would handle 400-500lb/ft when it is originally designed for 150lb/ft.

One thing I don't understand, and I don't like about is that volumn wise it is almost Lotus Elise territory, but I don't know why the car weighs 2800lbs. First 200lbs is relatively easy to remove, just like the evo, but after that, it probably costs double per pound saved. I would still get s2k over Elise anyday though, safety and fit/finish just can't be compared between the two cars. You should google or youtube some wrecked s2ks and elises, and elise may no longer be one of the cars you always thought of owning sometime.
