Greddy BOV

I have seen on here that everyone recommends a re-circulating BOV and I was wondering why it needs to be recirculating and you cant just cap it off, what difference does it make? Please dont close this thread I have tried searching and can't find any info on this issue. Thank you for your help.

well first off you dont want to cap it off. If you cap off your BOV the air wont go anywhere and you will be defeating the purpose.

Venting open atmosphere on a MAF vehicle is more the issue. That unmetered air causes the MAF to not read it and will run rich in shifts and go to shut off.
Nothing major and can deal with it, but wll not run as smooth

Also there are 1500 threads on this. search under BOV or something related to a bov.

I don't think you have tried searching. I know for a FACT, this has been discussed on this forum, and I also know for a FACT, you can just search on google.

he doesnt mean capping of the BOV i think he means capping of the hole in the intake where the recirc pipe goes... and our cars with stock computers usually need the recirc cuz when the air is blown back in the computer senses everything as normal but when you VTA then you computer thinks its missing that air so it adds more through th computer which akes you run richer( i believe its richer ) and then your rpms drop between gears and not good... but some cars do it and some cars dont... but i had a greddy type rs on my evo and it was recirc also and the car didnt run anywhereeeeeeee near *** good as the stok diveter

I have the GReddy Type RS recirculated on my car now and it runs fairly well. It jumps a little on bad shifts but nothing to bothersome. Basically, you need to run recirculated because the ECU expects the engine to have air circulated. To run VTA, get a standalone.

ok I see thank you I couldn't find that anywhere. So have you both switched to another BOV ? is the evo IX MR bov what I should get? I have read that seems to be the best but I like to hear from people who have used.
