should I make the switch? 350z to EVO 9..help me?
thanks guys!... so what exactly is wrong with the MR? just the transmission? whats wrong with the 1st gear?... is the 5 speed an overall stronger transmission than the 6spd?
also^... what are the differences between the models? like GSR or RS... whats the difference between them 2?
Thanks for the heads up! if the 5spd is that much better then, i sure as hell wouldnt mind a 5spd..

The RS is basically a stripped-down Evo... aluminum roof, no ABS, no wing, no power anything, some no radio, no rear wiper, no trunk lining, etc.
GSR is the base model Evo.
oh and I do not plan on tracking the car. I mean I will probably launch it a few times and just highway pulls.. but nothing crazy.. I dont beat on my cars. I dont do auto x or anything like that either..
The 5 speed is the stronger . But like I said, if you're not pounding it on the track the 6 speed should be fine.

yea, the RS is a stripped down version of the Evo.
The GSR has your normal things.. AC, power windows, locks, RADIO..
The MR has those, plus the 6spd. trans, and billstein shocks..
From what it sounds like to me, since you'll only be taking it down the strip every now and then, with a few highway pulls in between, I'd personally go with the 5spd. Just because of the simple fact that once your at the HP levels your looking for, reving out 4th gear is more than enough on the 5 spd.. at 7k (stock redline) in 4th gear your at 120mph.. and with cams our cars will take 8-9k all day.. so even if you would rev. 4th gear to 9k in the 5 spd. your probably somewhere around 150+mph.. and I don't think you'll ever go higher than that in a highway pull.. plus the benefit of not having to shift all the time like you would in the 6 spd.. just look at STi's.. The 6spd. gear box is what kills those cars..
But the choice is up to you man.. good luck with the decision.

I believe your going to love an Evo IX. Ive driven a Z and they are quick cars, but they just don't pull into corners like the evo does..the way these cars grip is very differnt. Test drive an evo as soon as you can, its a different experience. AWD FTW!
I would not recommend revving to 9000 rpm unless you have a built motor and head in your car or you are asking for trouble... if you are on a stock turbo on pump gas there is really no reason to rev past 7600 as the power drops off horribly at that point anyway...
