should I make the switch? 350z to EVO 9..help me?
Cams don't determine this... I wouldn't recommend over 8k on stock internals with upgraded valve springs/retainers. It's pointless on the stock turbo anyways.
honestly its a tuff call. I had an 07 Z before my Evo. I deff did not get rid of the Z for the Evo.
Although I like my Evo very much, its deff not as comfy, racy, stylish as my Z IMHO.
Although it does make significantly more power and handle pretty good. Just doesnt feel as it was made for me as much as my Z was
Also no way I would DD a Z in NE winters and the Z was not practical with a family/kids

yea what they said revving that high and your asking for trouble you would need a fully built motor to do that what no worries and why are you reving 9k anyways on the highway stupid. Anyways i have a Evo and a Z im in the process of installing my fully built slowbody racing stage 2 motor into my evo and looking into to either getting a full sound system or turboing my Z right now. Best of both worlds i say keep the Z and then get a evo. Its sounds like your the average driver like me not really racing or ******* the car out. I dont like the Mr tranny either but if your just going to mostly DD it with little time racing/tracking the MR should be fine. When in doubt you have TRE, Bruschur, Shep for your tranny needs. As stated earlier getting 400whp is pretty simple in the evo not to much required i would go with the setup i listed below now YES before it is said thats alittle over kill and you would def get 400+ off this set up below on 93 oct easy but it will be safe and effective and not to mention if you wanted alittle more power it would be ok. without a built head and motor this is all the mods would do. I dont recommend meth without a bulit motor period ask any good tuner and they will tell you but alast this will give you plenty of fun with the evo and a great powerband to work with. The only reason why im doing a fully built motor is cause my cyclinder walls got scratch so i have to pull the motor anyways might as well you know. list below enjoy
ported fp red
ported intake manny
ported/coated exhaust manny
ported throttle body
Ported ebay ss o2 housing
3" TBE(downpipe, testpipe inc)
1000cc injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
MBC
Upgraded intercooler(aps bruschur ets ams)
Upgraded intercooler pipping
Upgrade intake(with filter)
Aps twin vent bov(if evo 9 the stock diverter is ok)
Cams(kelfords 272 Hks 280)
Tune(recommend Mellon tuning he does wonders with stock ecu)
optional Dual spring and retainers and apr headstuds only if your going to be reving extremely high go ahead and get this out of the way

I don't know what "good tuners" told you that you need a built motor to run meth but that's a total lie. Meth is a great mod as long as you're tuned properly for it.
thanks for the feedback guys!.. Iam definitely going to test drive one!
Dont worry I wasnt even thinking it about revving the car to 8-9K.. it would be pointless.
Other than the transmission, do you guys deal with any other problems?. how is the drivability when you start to hit the 400whp range? and also reliability? ( the Z past 400whp it will start to throw rods out the block ). The only reason why I like the evo is because.. well first, try something different , awd, and it easy to make fast( to where iam with the Z ) it seems.
It is a very tough decision! I have put a lot into the Z. hopefully I dont start crying lol. I do plan on putting 3-4K in the evo as soon as I get it. wheels,drop.. and then all in the motor.
anyways here are a few pix of the Z, totally forgot .

DEFINITELY go with the Evo 9
I have an eclipse GSX and absolutely love the 4g63. Bulletproof is about right.
The Evo 9's have so much potential. Especially with a nice tune!!!!

yea have all the failsafe equipment you want on it for your cheap power but its is completely not needed and better for your motor in the long run if he just follows the build plan i laid out. will get him 400+ easy safely. Unless you think he needs meth To the op i should show you my Z lol if you want to part ways with that supercharger i might be game for buying it lol i prefer turbocharged but a good price is a good price.
I had HKS 264 and was revving to 8000k. It is not bad for the motor. I had cams, cat back exhaust, intake, fmic, mbc, downpipe and tuned. I put down on a Mustang Dyno 335whp and 300wtq on a conservative tune at 20lbs of boost.
ok does not help me pricewise zthirtythr33
. here are pics of my Z whole top have carbon fiber and most of interior as well working on either build a complete sound system or going the turbocharging route now

Super nice z guys! go with a ix. I drive an mr ix and my tranny is fine. Its not that bad racing with a six speed! I do wanna do a five speed swap tho for longer gear ratios but im not in a hurry with that beacause i do good with mine!
