Need advice from evom.net! 06 Evo 9 SE.
Hey guys,
So im caught up on the Evo9/07Sti deal... just like everyone else. I have read alot of things. Seems like they all have their problems, evo and their trannys, stis and their motors...
Well, I am currently looking at a 2006 Evo 9 SE with 18k miles at a mitsu dealer. Has slight mods, MAF and IC piping. How bad are these trannys as people talk about? Do they go out THAT easily?
Like, how much power/mis shifts does it take to break a tranny?
They are asking for 25k, its in Irving TX at Don Herring.. What do you guys think? Link is below, with pics!

Thanks in advanced! I also have searched around both Evom/Nasioc. But still want advice from everyone thats willing to give advice.

I have not regretted my decision at all. Like everyone said, if you take care of it and aren't a douche, then it will last. Now if you treat it like a bunch of people who think that 300 + HP is a good reason to drop the clutch on it and do four wheel burnouts and hard launches, I guarantee you will break it and pay the nice price of a new drivetrain. That said, you will want to check out the evo or get it checked out to make sure that you are getting it in good condition. A guy I know on here bought an evo and found out that the previous owner had thrashed on it. He had the dealership replace the blown clutch, the warped rotors, and the fake greddy VTA blow-off valve....I also like the fact that there are fewer EVOs on the road...
I had an 06 sti. Now I have an evo ix. People who know how to drive run 500 HP through the 5 speeds. I a have never heard of the 5 speed being weak. I have heard that the 6 speed is, but I have minor power upgrades and no problems after 20k miles with a 60 foot pound torque increase.
As far a a daily driver my dad has an 05 sti. I took him to dinner for his birthday yesterday, and he sat down and said your seats are much more comfortable than mine.

The Evo trannies in reality take a TON of abuse as long as you know how to drive. Its a piece of machinery so if you abuse the hell out of it with no care in the world (like a lot of people do) parts will fail and break, if you treat it as it should be treated it will hold up to a lot of power and last for a long time.
