Someone left an Evo stock? My X is two-days old and I'm already ordering stuff to bolt on. If nothing else you need to hear the exhaust. Seems sinful not to...

I hope so.

Actually, I already did... but it's black and the guy wants too much (I think).

Would you pay 30K for a stock black 06' MR with 6,000 miles on it?

Maybe more like 27K?

I don't care for black cars much though.

i'm also looking for an mr in white or gray only. it would be ideal to find a low mileage, garaged, and STOCK evo. i don't want some ricer boys sloppy seconds. having a stock clutch can give you an idea if it was beaten on i guess. a dealer in my area was selling one with 14k miles for $27k, i was just a few hours too late. keep shopping around and don't settle till you find the perfect one. unfortunately, when i start looking there aren't any for sale

and i also have my 06 g35 to get rid of, so doing a trade in is probably in the near future unfortunately. i bought an 05 wrx new when it came out, but there's just something about the darker side that always made we look twice at evo's passing by.

Ofcourse we are all going to say Evo on here. I'd go either way. I wanted either one but the evo won because I've wanted one since they came out. Now that I have an Evo, I want an STI. Eventually I'll have both.
Oh and welcome to the site. You should find everything you are looking for but if you don't just ask. A lot of knowledge on here.

I had an STI owner drive my Evo VIII and he really liked the way it drove. He basically said, though not in so many words, that he wished he got an evo instead. He said it just drover better. I seem to recall he said it had faster turn-in, better steering feel, and less understeer than his STI.

congrats on coming over to the EVO side. the EVO is faster in a straight line and on a race track stock for stock and mod for mod. the handling is better, and it's just plain prettier. GG IX MR is a good choice. I got mine in October of 05 and have enjoyed every single mile i've put on it. all 133k have been great. besides STi = Simply Terrible Idea

no it's not. it's funny how ignorance continues to spread that rumor though. i had someone want to argue me down about this the other day. the WRX is 200lbs lighter, but it's down 40hp and 46lb-ft of tq and yet that somehow equals a faster car? huh? lol

Thanks... I am fairly set on the Evo now although I am going to test drive at least 3 STi's and 2 more Evo's first. So far I have driven 2 Evo's and rode in an STi.

I'd have to say I am leaning 75% towards the Evo at this point.

I have a question... how much better is the suspension setup in the MR as opposed to the GSR or RS? Can you really feel a difference if the MR is a better stock suspension? Also, it seems as if I need to make up my own mind (based on the varied opinions in another thread) as to go with a 6 speed MR or a 5 speed GSR or RS. You know... the whole "is the 6 speed a weak tranny" debate...

well, i've put 133k HARD miles on my "weak 6speed tranny" and it's fine. it's like i said in my other post, if you leave it alone the 6speed is fine. if you're modding for HUGE power, then the 5speed may be better for you because it is stronger due to beefier gears and larger fluid capacity. as for the suspension, no clue...i swapped my stock stuff out for Buddy Club racing spec coilovers, and i'd never driven the normal EVO. from the reviews i read though, the handling is better on the MR. I got the MR because it's got everything in it, and i wanted the 6speed. the MR is the fastest of the group stock for stock, but you do run into problems in the 1/4 mile because of the short 4th gear once you start modding.

Just for critical thinkning, the gas tank will give you about 40-50 more miles in the STi and the cargo room will be much better in the STi if you plan on using a suitcase any time soon. Big suitcases will have to go in the back seat of the EVO. The warranties are about the same.

And then there is this: its sad but it doesnt mean you are buying a caliber.
While the Lancer Evolution IX received a face-lift and some other minor changes when it went on sale this year, the Evo X will more or less be rebuilt from the ground up on a brand-new platform which it will share with the next-generation versions of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Dodge Caliber, and even the Mitsubishi Outlander SUV.
