NASIOC compared to Evolutionm

Hey guys,

Formally I haven't introduced myself on here yet. I'm Danny. I bought a 2006 GG Evo 9 about month and half ago. I love the car! I'll have to post some pics of it when I get home (I'm at work).

Anyway, I used to own a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX. I must say, the enthusiasts at Evom are MUCH nicer/more curteous then the enthusiasts on NASIOC. To backup my statement, I use the search function as often as I can. I know it gets annoying repeating the same answer over and over again to people. It just seems NASIOC in general are a bunch of people that hope and pray for someone to post something stupid so they can immediately flame them. It really shows their immaturity.

I just want to thank all of you for being a great bunch of people (so far from what I've seen). Rock on!

Danny

Welcome to the forums, and nice choice in Evo (same as me).

I also post on Nasioc and have been a member on there since early 2003, as I was strongly considering a WRX around that time but never went through with it. There are definitely people who know their stuff there, but far too many fanboys of whichever vehicle are on there, and there is more focus on flaming people than helping people. Plus there are just way too many idiots who don't know how to vocalize their opinions. Not that EvoM is idiot-free, but it seems like even people who butt heads at least know how to disagree with each other without it becoming a name-calling contest.

Not to seem like a Subaru hater, but I got that vibe from a lot of Subaru forums, like clubwrx, i-club and wrxfanatics, as I had joined each of those forums and a couple others that I'm sure I'm forgetting. EvoM (and other Evo forums) probably attracts a different crowd (at least historically, and for now) because the Evo was a bit more out-of-reach for some, while with Subaru, the WRX was a little bit more affordable, so you figure younger and less experienced drivers had access to them, joined various forums and just poisoned them with silly hypothetical questions (I remember one guy asking if his car would be fine if he took a jump at 150 mph) or misinformation since they think that they know everything.

I still check Nasioc frequently, but only their non-Subaru car news forum or whatever it was called, and there are still a bunch of morons lingering around there who I have to argue with from time to time, since I do like reading about upcoming cars.

Deeez I completely agree. I think that the NASIOC community is poisoned by younger folks. The sad part is, I vividly remember all of them bashing evo owners saying how we all "race too much" and generally they look on at us in disgust. I for one don' t have a problem with anyone but some of these guys are downright brutal...

If anything, relative to the amount of those specific cars that I see, Evo owners are far more likely to just wave, while it seems like every STI and non-bone-stock WRX is eager to run against me, so it's quite the opposite.

That's because out of the box, we (Evo owners) know are cars are fast We do not need to prove anything. Anyway, I'm just glad to be here vs. NASIOC. I feel more comfortable here.

Lol and go figure, the last day I posted on NASIOC, I hit "Scooby Specialist" status. Total cliche.

I found a lot of Suby owners were anti-Evo. I guess because they were insecure since Evo's are generally faster. Personally, I've owned both STI/Evo, and both cars have their pro's/con's.

I owned a non-turbo 96 Impreza. It was that car that got me hooked on AWD. I don't understand the animosity out there between car enthusiasts.
