greddy kevlar for the main timing, I used new stock belts for the tensioner and balancing belts to avoid noise...

Other things to consider:
balance shaft belt, timing belt tensioner pulley, timing belt idler pulley, balance shaft tensioner pulley, hydraulic tensioner; maybe water pump too

I dont understand how you guys can be so comfortable with a single belt standing between a good day and a blown engine.

I want to buy an evo 8 or 9 but damn just looking at my 97 Cobra 4.6 4 valve motor it has nice chains driving everything.

I couldnt imagine losing a motor to a belt.... There any way to swap to a chain from the newer 4b11t?

i have seen chains stretch and break apart too....18 years of the 4G63...think they would of changed it if that saw fit....

Exactly they DID change it when they switched to the 4b11t.

I understand chains also have issues but they seem quite a bit more robust than a belt in my opinion.

Chains have a definite guide counting by teeth, but a belt is infinitely adjustable. I seem to feel like the belt could slip ever so slightly and now things are incorrect. Where as the chain has to jump a full tooth which can be easier to detect.

Interesting to hear that people dont think it's an issue.
