Insurance, Girls and more...?
I'm 29 and just got my Evo. I take better care of it since I bought it with my own money. Plus I appreciate it more since I know how much that thing costs.
I was a little disappointed to see how the OP talked to the army veteran, -1 to you sir when people are just trying to give you well rounded advice. Fresh out of high school and getting an evo is a tough choice, and will be very expensive, wether or not the mod bug gets you and you want to sink some serious cash into her. I know you say you are okay with the money, I was too, I could afford the cost of the car (im 23 btw, and bought it when I was 20, straight purchase) but after over 3 years of maintenance and insurance payments on top of the mods I have chosen to do (and the tickets I've had to pay
), I could have almost bought two of them off the showroom floor! New! It is an extremely expensive car to keep running, especially as a DD. If something would go wrong (and many will attest at these boost levels they do) tranny, T-case or it would throw a rod, your talking about anywhere up to a 4,000 dollar repair just in parts and a hefty bill for the shop time (if you don't do your own wrench work yourself).
If you really can afford it, and can be safe with a car that can do these speeds, than I say go for it. I did, and don't regret it for a second. She is expensive, but I can honestly say I wouldn't want any other car. It's the truth. So I hope you find the forums helpful, and if you come here with a good attitude and contribute some of your own knowledge there is no limit to the amount of information you can learn.

What did you end up putting down on your hta green setup. i saw you had 464whp something like that then you took it down.
From what ive heard, minis are a hoot to drive. But its more of a smaller car so idk if thats what you want.
This thread is a great example of several things:
1) How not to behave on an open forum. Pretty simple: if you are polite and ask reasonable questions, there are thousands of people on this forum who will help you out.
2) How not to go through life. The OP isn't the first spoiled high school student to inquire about an Evo, but some of them at least extracted their head from their posterior long enough to absorb the advice being given to them by adults who've all traveled the same road.
3) How to suck at life. If you need a car to pick up women, you're going to need something that screams "I HAVE MONEY AND I'M WILLING TO LET YOU HAVE IT ALL IF YOU PRETEND TO LIKE ME!". 911s and Ferraris would probably be a good place to start. Don't forget the pre-nup.
4) How to be lazy. I realize most parents are too busy to teach their kids anything, but again, this is basic stuff. If you want to know what YOUR insurance costs will be, go to Geico.com, Progressive.com, Allstate.com, StateFarm, com, or call any of the other hundreds of insurance companies, and get a quote. Insurance varies immensely from state to state, and person to person. But yes, it will be expensive, and it will be even more expensive after you total your $30k sports car in the first month you own it.
Since the OP seems like he has decided to be the spoiled douche bag in a pickup instead of the spoiled douche bag in a sports car, this probably won't help him, but perhaps it will help some other naive 17 year old.
