My pity goes out to you. Sad to see someone new to the evo world and pick up an abused one as their first. Tough learning lesson in wrenching, but it'll all be worth it if you stick it through. The metal shavings in the tranny and engine obviously aren't a good sign, but a good flush should help you narrow the problems down. Do a compression check on the motor to see where it stands. How does the tranny feel shifting with the car on and with the car off?

Check the downpipe to see if it's hitting the something. Mine use to clunk whenever I accelerate from stop. If that's not the case, I hope you'll find it and fix it soon. GL

the shifting feels the same on and off but it is lose due to the worn down bushings and i didnt even think of checking the compression ratio thanks for that tip
I do have AAA but im not sure if they will tow it across 2 states but ill check asap

Thanks a lot to everyone hearing you guys saying it will work out really does help me

I test drove an Evo with a slipping clutch it seemed to be clunky during shifts and when the clutch slipped. I didn't hear any noises, but it wasn't smooth to drive.

I know this sounds ridiculous but can you make a video of the car with audio.
I'm thinking it might be the TC as well but a 'closer than forum' look/sound might be more helpful with a diagnosis

i picked it up for 16k but i did buy an extended warranty.
as far as i know the shavings were metal but i dont know what type
Ill try my best to make the video it will take me a little bit but i should have it up by this weekend

I found out that the dealership i picked up the evo from did not even bother changing any of the fluids, hell they didnt even bother changing the cracked tail light cover
I'm no expert on laws but I think this a big no no here
