in a freaking heartbeat.

if the tune is solid and the car goes through good maintenance there is no reason not to.

i've done several one day back and forth trips from LA to SF (800 miles both way) in my IX and it was making 330whp. never missed a beat until i sold it at 30,000 miles (had 330whp since 15000 miles).

Not a bad idea. In addition, a mechanical toggle switch (independent of the security system, which mostly acts as a deterrent/noisemaker after the thief has gained entry) that interrupts power to the fuel pump makes it signficantly harder to drive it away.

Quick and easy theft deterrent if you're feeling extra paranoid? Unplug the cam angle sensor at corner of the valve cover, on the passenger side, closest to the firewall. Or uplug both of the connectors going to the two coils. Leave them still fitted loosely on the mating connector, so they look like they're plugged in, in case the thief looks under the hood to try to figure out why the car's not starting (unlikely).

Unplugging this stuff will keep the car from cranking, even if the thief beats the factory immobilizer system. Might trigger a CEL light if someone tries to start the car with these items unplugged though; not sure. I always travel with a OBDII scanner/reset tool, so no biggee for me.

I wouldn't think twice about driving my '03 EVO across to Cali, especially since I've installed cruise control to keep me literally flying below the radar. That being said, I've only got minimal bolt-ons as far as modding goes.

I drove from Utah to Florida this summer in my TL, what a drive. I could only imagine doing it in an Evo, no CC, gas... sheesh GL.

I went half way twice between Socal and Houston about two years ago with a handfull of mods on the car. No problems, definatly let it cool for a good amount of time before I shut it off to protect the turbo. I actually saw a high speed chase in progress on the way back out to socal.

Would definatly do it again.
