I did a search and couldn't really find what the point of this part was for. I saw that some people got it to keep their car from stalling because they were venting to atmosphere. Is there any other reason to have this?

The reason I'm asking is because my car came with it already hooked up in the glove box and I figured out there is also a switch, which I think turns it on and off.The reason being is when I flip the switch on the car idles poorly and stalls sometimes. I don't know what it's for really...

Any help is much appreciated!
