are most of these stories serious or just mocking me? i just don't want to be impaled with shards of metal and chunks of engine or whatever.. just wondering the chances of it actually reaching you.. when you think about how much power is being produced in these motors.. i just thought the idea of pieces of it reaching you didn't seem that unreasonable.

I had a friend who was driving without his seatbelt (wasn't a law yet)...the guy behind him rear ended him and he hit the guy in front of him who was carrying metal rods on the back of his truck. My friend was thrown from his position and just in time for the metal rod to come through his front windsheild impaling the drivers seat. Moral of the story is that sometimes taking safety measures (wearing seat belts) could kill you too. It's much better to have good luck!

Just live by doing what you like, with some common sense of course, the rest depends on luck as coryl mentioned.

Even if you shield yourself in some 12 foot thick iron dome structure with plenty of food and air supply, who knows if an earthquake will take you down or your dome will get struck by a large meteor?

One day a bunch of us were pondering these kinds of situations over, and how one protects oneself from bad things happening. My mother who is very paranoid of identity theft, and never uses her credit card in a foreign country or on the internet, had her credit card # stollen at a local well-known department store. These people went out and bought everything their hearts desired with that card.

Another time I stalled in going to an amusement park where my sister and I had planned to get on the rollercoaster and ride it all day (just flashing our armbands to stay on the ride). Because I stalled, we were not on the ride when the rollarcoaster went off the track and three people were killed, and one is now a quadriplegic.

When I was younger I smoked cigarettes. I was sitting at a light and another guy pulled up beside me on that dark night, and he started to light up a cigarette. That triggered me to light one too. Both of us were sitting lighting our cigs when the light turned green for us to proceed...because we were not ready to enter the intersection there was about a 10 second delay...a car coming in the opposite direction going 100+ kms, flew through the intersection, and if we had not smoked, we would have been in the intersection and been killed. The two of us just looked over at each other and we knew that smoking had actually saved our lives!

You really have to have a bit of luck in this world, but doing fool-hardy things will increase your risk for sure. Drive your car and enjoy it...one never knows when your # is up!

ahhh,

live your life day by day...... ive had a few big scares and lost 6 of my best friends in my senior year of high school. seeing and experiencing that in your last year of school makes you really start to appreciate life and how good we really have it in this wonder country of ours.... ( except for medical / insurance / taxes )
