so you guys are being serious -

I'm not really that concerned about it, I was just wondering what the odds were -
I always hear about motors blowing but I never hear about anyone getting injured/killed by exploding chunks of motor

Build the motor and get a scatter shield if it really concerns you. Or just dont beat on your car.

It would be very rare, and even considered a fluke, so quit worrying. You will die of something else...just pray that this will be painless.

These people went out and bought everything their hearts desired with that card.

Another time I stalled in going to an amusement park where my sister and I had planned to get on the rollercoaster and ride it all day (just flashing our armbands to stay on the ride). Because I stalled, we were not on the ride when the rollarcoaster went off the track and three people were killed, and one is now a quadriplegic.

When I was younger I smoked cigarettes. I was sitting at a light and another guy pulled up beside me on that dark night, and he started to light up a cigarette. That triggered me to light one too. Both of us were sitting lighting our cigs when the light turned green for us to proceed...because we were not ready to enter the intersection there was about a 10 second delay...a car coming in the opposite direction going 100+ kms, flew through the intersection, and if we had not smoked, we would have been in the intersection and been killed. The two of us just looked over at each other and we knew that smoking had actually saved our lives!

You really have to have a bit of luck in this world, but doing fool-hardy things will increase your risk for sure. Drive your car and enjoy it...one never knows when your # is up!
Well said. I'm a LEO and I put myself in harm's way on a regular basis. During the Academy I learned to accept death as part of life. Prior to that I was fearful of death. When it's your time it's your time. I just hope and pray that I don't have a painful/suffering death. Don't live a life in fear.

Personaly i dont see a danger in blowing the motor, but i def see a danger when clutchs explode

When I first go my Evo, I cranked the boost up to 40psi and added a 3 stage 150 shot of NOS. The car was set up for 10's and it had stage 7 mods. Real nice JDM neon kit too that was set to flicker to music. Anyway, I was in the middle of a street race across the Golden Gate Bridge and I flipped the switch for the 3rd stage of NOS, and the engine blew sending shards of downpipe fluid all over the road. The neon tubes all blew and I actually got poisoning from neon gas inhalation. So the moral of the story is that unless you are running JDM neon tubes, you should be pretty safe in the event of a catastrophic engine failure.

However, motorcycles are a totally different story :-)

I know at least one guy tbat went through a 'thigh piercing' and I have heard few other horror stories. It's no surprise when your bum is actually on top of those hard working engines and legs almost wrapped around them.
