Which is the better setup mechanical or electrical Boost Gauges?
Is it just preference?

To be honest, I would just use what ever is easier to set up/ install for you. They both are just as accurate as the other.

Electrical would give you a more accurate reading.

i have had both but mech. will be more accurate. it is getting the reading right at gauge not thru sender so reads faster and more accurate.

A better reading??? depending on the type of gauge it shouldn’t really matter. as a personal preference id go with electronic; main reason being that you can tap into your vac. source at a closer distance making IMO a better reading since it’s an electrical signal to get from the sender to the gauge. If you where to go with a mech. gauge you have to run that vac. line all the way to where ever you place your gauge...thus making your reading a bit off from all the excess vac. line.
to me it kinda fall into the same lines as a MBC, closer to the wastegate the better.

I love my AEM digital gauges. You cant get anymore accurate with regards to gauges than digital. Theres no lining up a needle to a numeric dial.... just look down and get your number. The sensors or senders may require a bit more work to set up / install, and are most likely more expensive.....but well worth it. An accurate number displayed right to you without any guess work.

Electronic isn't really reading boost "electronically". The AEM boost gauge works off a vacuum line just like a manual boost gauge. The only difference is it doesn't work with a needle, just digital numbers.

This isnt correct. The AEM digital boost guage (which is displayed in the pic that Ive installed on two different cars) works with a pressure transducer that recieves the vacuum/boost signal and relays it back to the gauge bezel via a digital signal.

Would the electrical me a little easier to install since you don't have to run a vacuum line?

Mechanical ones suck. Ive had every single brand come off calibration either right out of the box or later on down the road. The electrical one doesnt come outta calibration and works great. I wont trust another autometer boost gauge again. Didnt find out until we were tuning the car that it was about 3-4lbs off this whole time. Everyone i know has a boost gauge that is inaccurate
