need help with electric boost gauge install!
i just bought an evo 9, i have always owned other turbo cars and installed a few mechanical boost gauges, but never an electric boost gauge. I have a prosport premium electric stepper motor boost gauge to install, can anyone help?? pics would be great! thank you
ITS A POS! RETURN IT WHILE YOU CAN! I had one of these and the damn thing read 5 psi short! First time I ran with it, I was at wastegate pressure (12 psi) and it was reading 7! Returned it and stayed with my Defi Mechanical! Much better! Its for sale now if you are interested. Thats only because Im upgrading to a 50 psi gauge! If you have any questions about the prosport gauge, just ask me. Ill help you as much as I can. But thats just my warning!
I recently installed a prosport electric boost gauge in my IX...Havn't had any problem with it. Have you already started your install?
For the non peak boost gauge, the green wire on the gauge connects to the white wire on the sensor. ground both black wires, and connect the red wires and splice into a power source. If you want the gauge to be amber connect the orange wire (on gauge) to your power source. If you want it white, connect the white wire (on gauge) to the power source. If you want both, connect the white wire to the acc and the orange to your light in the fuse box.
I didn't run the hose all the way into the vehicle. I widend one of the openings on the sensor and connceted it to a bolt on the fire wall. I replaced the T because it was too big, and purchased a better vaccume hose (It comes with cheap aquarium hose) Connected the hose, and ran electrical through a gromet which goes behind the glove box (You will need to remove the glove box and you will see it just above the cabin filter on the right side). Remove the gromet and cut a hole into the center. Run the wire through, then replace the gromet.
I have heard of people connecting the wires to the back of the stereo, seen photos of the wires connected directly to the back of the ignition, and, like what I did, splice into the wires in the fuse box, and to the acc wire behind the steering column.
Sorry I dont have any pics.
Good luck!
