Hey STi owner in need of help..LOL
29,400 is way too much to ask including your trade. Anyone who would make a deal like that is oblivious (I know that you won't and you realize how crazy it is). That dealer is trying to commit highway robbery if he thinks he can get an 08 sti, which he will probably sell for 24,000 and get 29,400 for a car which is only probably worth low 20's on the private market.
What dealers charge is crazy a lot of the times, once you think about the math.
After all that is said, the IX is the last of a breed. A true enthusiasts car, and in the future they will be worth more money, especially the RS series (limited production). Not saying they will worth a ton over their MSRP at the time, but still, eventually their value will go up. All that is being said with the idea that Mitsu won't run the Evo name into the ground with crappy future productions.

MR Tranny's are garbage IMO but my buddy has a IX stock turbo...only has cams, intercooler pipes, injectors, cams and running E85 and he makes right about 400-410 WHP with a hell of a tune by KevinD @ Evolution Dynamics. I too had an STi (TURTLE) switched to a IX which ended up DESTROYING every STi I ever encountered. Now I have a X and guess what I have still never been beat by a STi. (Not saying it can't happen but it hasn't yet) and with my new ETS HTA Twin Scroll 3582R kit I don't see it likely in the future to see a STi on the street that will give me the pleasure of hearing the "Boxer Growl". LOL.
I went from 05 srt-4, to 08 wrx, to 05 evo mr. I hate the whole "stage" mods, and when you choose a platform because of the exhaust note, I think you've bought the car for all the wrong reasons.
the f are you talking bout? i didnt buy anything, thats precisely the reason i started this thread to see if i want to get an EVO IX and what is the benefits of owning it, ie. power that can be made and such.
I put enough down on my car to have the loan below blue-book trade-in. Regardless of what happens to the car, I won't lose more than the car that way.
Perhaps you missed the fact that the OP is upside-down on his STi? He owes 28k, which is why the upside-down part is getting tacked on to the loan for the Evo. In my opinion it's very unwise to trade a vehicle if you are upside down on it...clearly your financial situation isn't good enough to be losing more money right now.

, i just wouldnt mind being on the flipside to go to a better car, like i said before i dont mind paying a little extra for a car thats worth it, i just dont want to get raped on the deal thats all
Sorry I was just commenting on the boxer rumble comment. I like evo much better than wrx/sti because I4's are much cheaper and easier to work on than H4's. Good luck on whatever you choose
The dealer is asking $24,991. Unwilling to budge on price, although I'm sure that if I wrote a check for $23K, they'd take it. I've been strongly considering it, but I just can't justify having two Evos in the garage, even if it is a clean IX. Too many other interesting cars out there for that money.
Amazing to think that a car that sold for a little more than $30K new still holds that much value 4 years later. I know, I know, it's an Evo IX, last of the line, etc. etc., but still. I'm tempted to just buy it, drive it around for a while, and then sell it a year later for what I paid for it.

Oh, and to whoever buys this Evo: Please don't start modifying the heck out of it. It's too nice of a stock IX to start trashing up. Keep it stock--it's tons of fun just as it is--and it will hold its value much more than if you started throwing a bunch of junk on it.
true very very true, thats the reason why i want it so bad, its the last of its kind in excellent condition, i would not mind trading my 08 STi for it, just the fact that their screwing me is whats holding me back, hopefully something works out if not I still got my Sti

.....but we sound sexier, boxer rumble anyone?
