Hey STi owner in need of help..LOL

Hello and first thing is STI PWNZ JOO!! lol j/k...but seriously i own an 08 sti and I am thinking about getting a 2006 Evo MR red with the grey bbs 24k miles in perfect condition...i have been reading the posts about how to go about modding these cars but the only thing its not clear on is how much power do i get with the "stages" you guys got...for example a stage 2 STi i can make 320 whp, how much does a "stage 2" evo make, and what is it?? I really like EVOs especially in this color...my buddy told me the MR trannys are trash, so is it safe to do a stage 2 on it?? In addition which would be a better evo a GSR or MR im looking for gains of 350 whp with it, i was told evos make more power easily than STis, so please help me out THANKS!!

Stage 2? That is a pretty arbitrary term, could mean you change one of many parts. It all depends on who you take the car to and what their "stages" entail. Read the above link, and figure out what parts you will be swapping in these stages and then come back and tell us. (Example, Company 1 in stage 2 might just have MBC, intake, exhaust, tune. Company 2 might have MBC, Cams, Intake, tune. The two different stages will yield different power gains). Only when you figure out the exact parts list can we help.

The 6 speed tranny isn't trash, it just isn't good for launches or the 1/4 mile. It is good in Auto-x and road racing events. If you treat it well, it will treat you well. As with many parts (drivetrain, powertrain, etc) that are on this car, take care of it and it will last a long time.

Good luck.

TBE + Intercooler pipes + Intake + MBC + Good tune = POWNZ UR STI...LOL

That's like 2K in mods I think, don't think you need a fuel pump but I could be wrong.

With a Borla Catback, intake and a MBC(24psi) I got 320whp(Dynojet)

That was with a flash tune that the car came with too, so a full dyno tune should be better.

I assume you're talking about 350awhp on a Dynojet. You can get about 340awhp on 93 octane with a modest number of mods (exhaust, intake, tune). You'll need to go E85/meth or add cams to get 350 on the stock turbo. If you don't mind upgrading your turbo then 350 is a piece of cake, even on 91 octane.

cams should put him above 350whp with a TBE, Intake, MBC on 93.

yo guys if i do get this MR in "Rally Red" ill post pics it looks sexy, i talked to the previous owner he said he babied it, he drove it to work and thats it, it does have a greddy exhaust, sounded nice, and swift springs, he sounded real cool and i looked at the car underneath everything looked solid, but back to the question my buddy asked, would a EVO MR be better than a GSR?? what you guys think??

Depends on how far you're going to take it. The MR can only go 400hp or so and few people have pushed them past 380. If you are only looking for 350 then it won't matter which way you go.

I'm working on a round of mods that should get me close to 500 on a Dynojet. heh.

WTF are you smoking? Maybe you think he is shopping for an X, but he said 2006 MR (IX). There are MRs over the 500 barrier, many in fact. I am right on the verge. The 6 speed is still holding strong.
