Buliding an Evo worth it?

I'm currently in the market looking for an evo, my price range is around 16-18k, Since I basically have no life I have really looked into forums and websites and found a lot of parts on salvaged evos and parts .. ie tranny motor , body and such.. so Im thinking is sit worth it to spend the time buying a body, or tranny or motor separately and putting them all together, it might be a fun project and will help me get to know the car better. My dad is very smart with cars , but obviously not a pro and is some what busy. I do have time and I have a decent job, so my question is is it worth looking around for these parts and putting them on together slowly, and of course I could ask for the help of the very smart people of evolutionm.net... Joe

I found my evo for 18.5 and it had a clean carfax. I say for your price range you can find a nice evo that wont need to be pieced together.

agreed you dont want to be peacing parts together if your not building a straight race car. Things could get alittle pricey you never know what you buying from salvaged cars hommie. I would personally just buy a clean titled evo for 16-18 and be done with it and start modding that. least it runs and you can use it

unless you are bulding a car fo track only its not a good idea to rebuilt your own car because it will NEVER be the same again, squeeky noises, oil leaks, things not wrking properly, and more and more problems. For your budget buy one with clear title and enjoy the car.

EVO's are great cars! Ive had practically every Japanese tuner car, and I would have to say that the EVO has been one of my favorites. There are no perfect cars, and everyone has their own likes, and dislikes. But my EVO has been one of the most fun to drive, practical, and fun to "mod-out" cars I have ever had.

You can find a complete clean title evo for your price range. I would just do that unless you really want to put one together.
