9 MR Boston Build underway

Hey guys,

After reading the forums for literally four years it's time to post. I bought my MR two years ago and it's relatively stock:

CURRENT MODS:

ETS Intake
ETS LICP and UICP
Halllman Manual Boost Controller
Turbo XS BOV
Walbro 255
Magnaflow HFC catback
Koyo Radiator

I've been going nuts buying parts left and right since I've been back from Kuwait.

TO BE INSTALLED:

Exedy twin SD
GSC S2's
Buschur spring and retainer kit
ARP headstuds
880 injectors
Timing belt/ water pump kit (@60k!)

I've decided to post my build for fun and to start giving back to the community I've taken so much out of.

QUESTION: When i take the head off and replace the OEM headgasket, how do I make sure the head goes back on correctly with the new cams? I'm worried about screwing up the timing. I have to make it TDC, but how and what else?

Thanks guys,

-Doug

Wow still in fourth gear!? You must have been at 9k! I'm still trying to get her ready for the season, Dana is gonna do the clutch next week then I'll throw in the parts I got. GL with basic, try and stay low but they'll single you out at some point. I wouldn't worry though, after all , it's the chAir Force...

Clutch done!

Exedy Twin SD installed and WOW is this clutch smooth. Absolutly no difference in pedal feel compared to the stock clutch. Way smoother than the HD for sure.

Alright, pics to come, but I just got the head off the car, the Buschur dual valve springs are going in, the S2's, ARP's, head gasket and 60k timing belt. This is a hell of a project, I just hope it all goes back together...

Thanks for posting the vid! I actually watched that one several times before I did it. I did the cams myself, but the head had to be brought to a local shop to put the springs on (dual valve springs were to hard to press with the tool I had). I was going to do the T belt myself but didn't have and extra jack to support the engine so I had Al at Dynoflash do it when I brought it to be tuned. I only made 330 on a dynojet with stock turbo, hf cat and catback, gsc s2's, walbro 255, mbc@ 25lbs, upper and lower I/C pipes and intake all from ETS. I have a Buschur downpipe on the way then I'll go back for a reflash.
