Clutch Question

How much hp do you think a twin disc clutch can handle? I am looking to make 700+ with my evo and I am wondering if the twin can handle it or do I have to go triple.

For 700+ you're needing to go for the Triple route. Search around and you'll find the torque/power ratings of the twin wouldn't do the trick for long.

Clutches are rated by torque capacity, so go by what torque you plan on making, not hp.

A Quartermaster twin would be acceptable most likely. I went with an Exedy triple just because the Quartermaster's are not known for lasting very long in a daily driver, and I drive roughly 3000 miles per month so I dont wanna be pulling my clutch out 4 times a year for a rebuild.

There is also a little clutch throw limiter peice (not sure if thats the name) for 150 bucks or less that solves alot of the problems people have been experiancing with twin disks.

No prob dude!

The Exedy multiplate clutches specifically have that problem. On fast shifts when letting the clutch back out lightning quick, the clip pops on the TOB leaving your car completely disabled until you remove your trans to get the piece back on properly.

The remedy is this little guyhttp://www.streettunedmotorsports.co..._fork_stop.htm it attaches to the slave cylinder and prevents the clip from popping off by limiting the forks movement.

The Fork Stop is a very good idea.

The QM could hold that power (assuming a 2.0l, 2.3l or 2.4l torque might be pushing the limit a bit more) but as mentioned above there are some sacrifices. Whichever route you decide to go I would love to help you with your purchase, we have clutch fork stops in stock as well
