Do I need new clutch?

Hi, I bought 2005 evolution with 56k miles and it still has the stock clutch, so the first owner really took care of it.
Anyway the clutch engages really high, it doesn't slip but I was wondering if this is normal or the clutch is in the last stretch.

The only adjustment the evo has for the clutch is a tiny bit in the pedal. Basically if the pedal feels high it's probably on the way out. Saying that i wouldnt replace it until it actual slips, depending on your power levels and how you drive you may still get years out of it if you baby it.

Is the car modded? If it is bone stock and not slipping yet, i wouldnt waste my money on getting a new one. If you are a little concern then maybe try changing the tranny fluid to see if that would help?

If you have the funding, it couldn't hurt to buy the clutch now and have it on standby for if/when the clutch does fail. Otherwise you might experience unnecessary down time while waiting for a new clutch to arrive.

Yes, the car is bone stock except the turbo back exhaust. How can changing the transmission fluid help? Is the clutch pedal adjustable?

As i said above the only adjustment that can be made is a tiny bit at the pedal.

Like I said, if you've got the cash, buy the clutch now. Then you'll have it for when the clutch is completely shot. If you wait to buy a clutch, who knows what else could come up between now and then and the funds might not be available.

It's not as if a clutch sitting on your coffee table will go bad if you don't install it right away. Purchase it now, get it out of the way. Install later when it's a priority.

Yes, it is a good idea to have a clutch just incase. I did.
Now it will be installed while I have the engine apart.

If you do decide to change the clutch assy., have someone that know what they are doing. Seen to many stripped bolts, broken cases, missing bolts and nuts, etc.

Last I checked, Mitsu Dealerships charge for 10.4 hours of labor for a clutch install. So at about $80 an hour, you do the math.
