Possible Engine Swaps

Hi everyone,

I went to my dealership yesterday and the owner told me I could put a Evo VII engine and just change the transmission since it's a direct bolt-on . Of course I didn't believe him and reading the threads I guess I was right. However, is there any other engines I could put in the US Lancer??? Going turbo with the 4g94 requires forged pistons and would probably kill my motor. These ir also the fact it's a simple SOHC.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Nothing wrong with SOHC. It may not be ideal, but it's not bad.

There are TONS of threads on the other engines available. The 4g63 is POSSIBLE...there's certainly space for it and whatnot, but the tranny may be the issue. There may be a 4g63T Lancer in the works, but cOst vs effectiveness says turbo is the way to go.

You will not harm you engine bossting unless you do something stupid. The vast majority blown engines I've read about have been due to poor installs or overboosting without enough fuel.

Yeah but where's the glory if you didn't crank up the boost during fuel starvation?!

I dunno, but at least the glory isn't dead in your driveway in a pile of its own grenaded guts. It's the automotive equivalent of your heart exploding. Upping the boost beyond what the engine can handle is like doing lines of coke, smoking some crack, then mainlining meth and running a marathon.

anything is possible.....

I know I'm not the first to say this, and I wont be the last but anything is possible if you got the know-how and enough money. The question is how much do you want to spend and what kind of headahces are you willing to endure. Turbo is the best way to go for your $$. But if you don't know enough to do it yourself, make sure you find a really good shop that can do it for you. Because 9 times out of 10 you wont find out that they screwed up until your engine blows. I'm not an expert on turbos, but I do know fabrications, and it aint easy and it takes some time and research to get it right....or big bucks to get it done. Most of the time the cost is not worth the results.
