My FIRST car has been decided! :)
I would take the Evo X MR. But im 19 and going to collage and im saying keep your money. Buy a beater that'll get you around for now. Me, right now i cant afford to drive my car and it is sitting in the garage for 3 months, and the cops love teenagers in fast cars with big wings. They'll get you for "ANYTHING", lol example i got a ticket for my wing as a modification that obstructs the view of the driver.... its a stock sss wing
but jus my .02

I was trying to decide between the IX and a X and eventually went with the IX, probably because I found exactly what I was looking for with low miles. But wow, that's crazy for insurance. When I bought my IX I was 20, am now 21, and I am paying around $375 a month for your normal insurance, looks like I have to check out Progressive.

but jus my .02I hate to be the voice of responsibility here (since I'm only 29), but if you have $19,000 sitting in the bank, the last thing that I would suggest doing is dropping every penny of it on a down payment for an Evo. Don't get me wrong, I understand you're enthusiasm to own an Evo, especially at 18, but one of the worst investment decisions a person can ever make is to put all of their money into something that is going to lose at least 50% of it's value in the next 5-7 years. I don't know your finances or your job situation but if buying an Evo is going to take every penny you have now, and for the next five years, then don't do it! If you're dead set on owning an Evo my suggestion would be for you to get an Evo 8. You could probably pick up a nice one with decent mileage for less than $15K. You'd be able to pay cash for it so you wouldn't lose any money paying interest, you'd still have about $4K or $5K left in the bank, and if you really wanted to, you could cut the insurance down to liability only and save a boatload on insurance (although I suggest keeping full coverage to protect your investment). Anyway, just my .02. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Get an EVO 8 or a EVO 9 for your first car.
They are cheaper to buy, and cheaper to mod.
Then when you are ready for a nice car, pickup an EVO X. Will give you something to look forward to.

And FYI this was with a clean driving history. 0 points on license and causing no wrecks.
You will do what you want to, and from saving this long the idea of getting an evo clearly hasn't been a rushed decision.
But like some others have said, depending on your financial situation. I would agree with others and not spending ALL your money right now. I can enjoy my car so much more now that after college and getting a job. I have saved a bunch for a rainy day, towards a house, towards past and future vacations, and towards a car purchase. All these savings give me a great cushion for **** that happens as well as letting me enjoy my car and possibly mod it without living on ramen noddles.
And for my car purchase, i had half the money for a new X saved up. I only put 5k and financed the rest, but it gives me a cushion for car payments, as well as improve my credit score with my loan, which sets me up better for a house down the road.
Just talk to other people and look at your situation in the next 5-7 years, especially if you plan on trying to mod your car and the costs associated with that.

If I had an Evo back when I was 18, I would have killed myself long ago. Learn how to actually drive before you buy a car like the Evo for God's sake.

I can see it now...first person that passes you on the highway in your "invincible" Evo is going to get your hormones all worked up, and you'll turn into every other a$$hat kid in a performace car.
Real dumb by the way to plop down $19,000 in cash on your first car, especially in this economy. If you really have a death wish and want an Evo that bad, get an older, less expensive Evo, and keep most of that money in the bank to pay for your funeral.
And before you reply to this email saying how hard you worked for this money and how you deserve to buy whatever car you want with it...
You know what? I would LOVE to buy a Porsche GT3 RS, but it's not going to happen. It's more important for me to pay my mortgage so I don't have to move back with my parents.

I would buy a used Evo 8. Finance half of it and invest the rest of the money in low risk accounts. Buying a car is NOT an investment. An investment is something you can potentially make money from.
